Crap, my old HRMs only go back to 1948, when Pete Peterson started it.

Wait! Veda Orr was sending a newsletter to SCTA members stationed overseas in October of '42!
Can't recall the car on the cover though, but her newsletters actually prompted Peterson to launch Hot Rod Magazine.

Some of you have been around for a while. In hot-roddus, veritas.

  14. I'm too old. HRM hadn't started publishing yet. ...and I couldn't even read it if they had. It was around 1959-60 that it became my favorite magazine.

  17. I can't play, I miss the forum cutoff rules by 10 yrs. I'm pretty sure no one wants a picture of a brown resto-rod or muraled van o_O

  18. Dick, the oldest hot rod oriented book that I am aware of is Veda Orr's Lakes Pictorial 1946. HRP

I am fortunate to be able to join in on this one! My brother in law gave me a set of magazines from the month and year I was born for Christmas one year. I take them out and look at them occasionally but they are pretty brittle from being so old and I don't like to handle them all that much.

Well, here are some rodders wringing out a 1944 Ford phaeton for you!

  24. I believe mine would be on parchment or papyrus.
There's a strong possibly Moses carved it on stone but since the ark is lost, we will never know for sure.

Nothing cool car-related happened for Aug 1975.
