Thanks for posting the pictures! I was there and the count of vehicles was really down from previous years, it the quality of the vehicles that showed up made up for the lack of numbers. Rumor has it that this was the last open house. Now that we lost Pete it will be no surprise if that rumor is true.
Walden had a large crowd as usual, parking is always a challenge but seeing the projects in the shop and eating their ice cream makes it worth it!

  8. Thanks for posting - last year I was there, this year a distant spectator. I hope the new show organizers fix their mistakes and keep the show alive and well for future generations to enjoy ....

Haven't been to a open house in years, however I noticed this to looking at the pics to. Seems like attendance slowly dwindled right around the time they stopped offering free In-N-Out.

Was that the famous 'Deucari', dwarfed by the giant walking by in front of it? (Post#5, 1st pic)
Someone did a meticulous job of 'bringing it back'... Brian Burnett sold it in the early '80s (?) and the new owner drove it hard at the Baylands/Fremont old time drags...it ran low to mid 12s.
Brian's 'Street Rods West' was its birthplace, although stretched and fitted by Magoo; Hagamann hood...
My favorite for 'innovation', all these years...despite my Die-Hard Trad strain.

  22. NOPE ... That's not "Deucari"!

Burnett sold it to Ed Hegarty (of Deal Auto Wrecking in Richmond, CA):

Ed passed away in 2012 ... but his son @Mike Hegarty is still the caretaker of "Deucari" ... as well as many of the other "HAMB-friendly" cars in his father's collection ... including the Dozier & Hegarty #404 DeSoto Airflow Bonneville racecar, the famous Ohanesian-Bertolucci '40 Merc convertible sedan, and the (circa 1954) flathead-powered "Silhouette” dragster:

NOTE: Before his death, Ed also owned two other famous Bonneville streamliners ... the (circa 1952) Chet Herbert #666 Beast III / (circa 1953) Dana Fuller #671 'liner [sold to Dr. Mark (@mrbhotrod) Brinker of Houston, TX and restored by Dave Crouse's "Custom Auto" shop in Loveland, CO]:

... and the Dozier & Hegarty 'liner (now campaigned as one of the Mariani Farms Racing 'liners):

    Wow - great shots!

The open houses have been by far my favorite part of the Fathers' Day weekend festivities.

It was a good day, until I started heading home and the fuel pressure regulator on my car took a crap and started spraying my windshield with gas. That was not fun. But after a quick repair at a local Autozone parts store with some borrowed tools I made it back home.

  29. Great pictures Thanks so much for sharing. Didn't make it over there this year, got wrapped up in a magazine photo shoot on my RPU and time got away from us. You made me feel like I was there
