Interesting as that is the same weekend as the Central City Hill Climb

  4. No, but who would be qualified to photograph the calendar for it?

Why would they be dumb enough to book it on the same weekend as the Hot Rod Hill Climb?

Because they might get the salt for freeeeeeee

I think it is the same time as USFRA, and they (USFRA) could use some spectator cross over,,,

Yes that is the same time as the USFRA World Of Speed. So I guess they are running it with USFRA sanction and equipment. And USFRA doesn't care anything about the Hot Rod Hillclimb.

  8. USFRA approached TROG organizers from what I read. Date was out of their control. I plan on being there

Something about grown men in costumes and the people it attracts. I'll pass.

interesting - have to run white tires, so as not to leave black marks on surface?

I bet it's going to be more like the USFRA 130 club. Depending on the salt, burnouts may not be well received.

  17. Eigth mile on thousnd of salt miles dos'nt make sense? Should be sanctioned and longer but that might ruin the retro vibe!!

When will that line get crossed, and the cars become Race Cars with safety inspections an safety equipment equal to modern SCTA specks? Bob

If you want to run a mile, enter the 130 club runs. The rules are more for street driven cars. But you can't go out and run much over 130 and come back.

I guess this means that Pismo Beach TROG won't be happening this year or probably never again?

I had not seen this. I have already committed to the Hot Rod Hill Climb. It is too bad two events have to happen on the same weekend.
I've read the rules for the various opportunities to run at Bonneville.
I've even contemplated building a car that could set a record.
The safety rules are tough as they should be. Even the least hard to meet rules would exclude most TROG cars.
So what is up with this? No TROG in California this year?
Spread the events out so we can attend both.

Wheel spin on the salt flats are not the best practice for speed or ET. Rolling on throttle is the only way to race there with the limited traction.

  26. I figured it was a one time deal so I made it a point to go. Got home from Hawaii at midnight Friday and left for the three hour drive at 4:30 the next morning. We overregulate everything here.....

But will it be drag racing, side by side?
Or Land Speed one at a time down the salt,,?
I can't imagine a full three mile run,, maybe a modified one mile
    And the safety factor

Think about this a minute. TROG is an 1/8th mile, 660ft event. The really fast cars at TROG run 60-70mph at the end. The cars (most of them) are built for this. As stated before on this thread- the safety requirements at Bonneville are notoriously stringent-rightfully so. Those guys are running WAY faster, and for WAY longer. TROG Bonneville will be just like any previous TROG event.

Sounds like TROG shark jump to me. Next year what will there be? TROG in Texas? TROG North Dakota?
Since when did the salt make for a good (traditional) drag strip?
