Thank you Jim for starting the Banger meet thread every month. I am getting excited for the Dirt Drags this weekend in Colorado. Hope to see some of the Banger meet guys there.

 

Just got the Weber on the B with a CRAGAR head yesterday and will drive it to lunch today. Still a few linkage issues that I need to sort out. BTW, posted the Stromberg-Bendix intake with a Ford logo Holley in the classifieds the other day.

 

But Honey, it just followed me home...............

 

John.... I remember saying that several times in the past. Zofia never asks ...... Perhaps that was a clue to marry here! OK June is button out all over.....

 

I had to explain the first time I brought home an old chassis, this is not an old piece of s#!t.
It is a canvas with potential and opportunity!!
If after building, a race car doesn't perform or handle, then it is a Piece of s#!t !!
Tracy has never asked since, she has seen enough leave on trailers.

The '27 T roadster body has taken up room in the shop for quite a while, now a chassis to use.

Maybe a good coat of bronzing wax and a more tradition air cleaner would overcome the "new" I used lot of Weber carbs on my projects. The do work well.

The earliest Webers were bronze Post war they were often costed in a sort of powder blue. Frank Griswald in New Your imported many differing styles including up and side draft models. Inside the have very modern AV chokes and jets. Very "Q-SHIP" too.

Just an idea.

 

Probably the same reason you didn't put a Chevy in it... Newer stuff runs better and easier older stuff is cooler always a balance in there somewhere.

Stock banger runs like a top. Not planning to do much right off the bat, but I'll do a lot of reading/research and make some decisions. Will likely warm up the motor a bit as time goes on. I do plan to put some bias plys back on and may lower it some, beyond that who knows. I'm sure I'll have questions.

we are building a similar car (channeled , sectioned) 2 door . yours looks really good .

 

Nice. It's running good with the replacement motor and the mag. The mag really likes high RPM and with the b grind cam it's really a blast off the line and through 2nd gear. Thanks

Took a 530 mile drive by myself from Millbrae to Santa Maria last weekend in my Model A banger powered cabriolet. Almost uneventful, 16 mpg going down, a pint of oil for the trip, and fifty mph including two stops going down. I did lose about 50 ounces of water each way. I retorqued the head before returning. The block weeps a little from a couple hairline cracks in the water jackets and maybe some from the head gasket. It was my first longish road trip with the car. The water temperature never got to more than 180.

I have a Weber carb, and when it is warm, it has a tendency to die at stop signs. My cure has been to pull out the choke when getting near stop signs and lights. Any easy adjustments to cure an otherwise pretty good running motor? A half turn on the idle screw did not make a difference. For regular around town driving, it does not die at stops. Thanks.

 

maybe on long trips it is boiling the fuel . maybe reroute the fuel line if near heat .

 

Thinking about buying that barn load of A engines, what would most guys pay for an unknown as is core engine head to pan? Bob

 

the problem I have encountered is most "A" blocks are cracked . pressure testing is the way to be sure . if you get the lot , don't put $$$ in one until tested ...........

Better. Cleaned up carb orientation, lowered gas tank and added a the brake lever. The image is done backwards. Always seem to draw using this layout, I like to see my exhaust so I just slap it in, even though in reality it would be on the other side.

If you like the intake and exhaust on that side you could turn the T engine 180 degrees and whip up a FWD setup. Just trying to be of help. Bob
