I'm in. Given the subject matter and your workmanship, this thread has the potential to have subscribers on the announcement alone-before the tutorial even starts!

I'll be watching this too, I'm working on a 4 door to 5 window but I'm very interested to see how a Tudor to 3w comes together.

I'm going to join the "Don't Do it, find a Four Door to cut down" team. But of course, it's your car so my opinion matters none; so I'm really only replying so that I can watch the thread and see the progress. I'm really interested to see how you do it.

This is my Sedan, I'll put the fenders back on once I get it further along...

Thanks guys we're excited as this is a personal project rather than a customers.hardest part is carving out extra time versus working on customers projects and family life.
I did a quick search and nothing popped up converting a sedan to a 3 window, any of you guys came across anything? I always like to see what's out there first method wise ,before we start cutting.i did find the 4door to 5 window on here ,end result looked awesome.
Again thanks for support and encouragement.

Didn't Schoum (not sure on spelling) build a 3w out of some Tudor quarters and pieces? That might have been a 32, but similar concept. I definitely remember a build thread.

I'm in the "find a 4 door club". But you aren't wrecking a perfect car. I always thought I might like a long door truck.

If what is left of my gray cells remembers right, I think that Lazzie (the Swede metal shaper) did this during one of his vacations in Sweden. He had a series of step-by-step photo's that he put up on the old Yahoo group's Metalshapers blog site back in 2002 (I think that the postings were in June or July of that year). If you belong to this group, you could go through their archives and try and find that thread. Otherwise you might try contacting him and see if he still has the pic's or knows where you could get copies. Using a tudor will help with the door length, etc. Good luck.

A tudor makes the most sense for a 3 window as they share the same door width.

  24. I thought so too.
I tried looking for the one I was thinking of but couldn't find it.
Nor could I get the spelling right.

^^thats the one. Maybe the pics can be reposted, the finished body was dead-on, looked great. Would be a great guide to get started.

I remember reading somewhere that the front of the upper door from a 35-37 truck is a great start on the back upper door for the 33 three-window conversion.

Also, measure a real one so you can get the backside skinnied up properly. The wheelwells of a tudor are wider than a coupe and will look too wide if you don't narrow them.
