That's Chad Adams latest creation, he decided to see what he could with fenders. One my favorites at the show. I went back today, still raining and much lower turnout than usual. Here are a few more shots of the HAMB friendlies and a few that were border line but I just liked a lot. 20170505_152243.jpg 20170506_091944.jpg 20170506_093151.jpg 20170506_114738.jpg 20170506_092637.jpg 20170506_115514.jpg 20170506_091804.jpg

Here is a little 1927 Chrysler roadster that I felt deserved special attention. I had been admiring this car for several years but could never seem to catch up with the owner to learn more about it, finally did today. It was built by a gentlemen named Larry (sorry I forgot last name). He brought it back from an unrecognizable rusted weed filled hulk of a field find. The detail and metal work on this thing is amazing. I am a die hard Ford guy but really liked this little 318 powered Mopar. 20170506_094500.jpg 20170506_094516.jpg

    Hey K, L, and G2,
Nice photos of that cool looking, black 57 Ford. That would be one nice car to cruise around in with comfort and speed. Those 57 fords were real sleepers when they first came out. Some were very fast with the optional centrifugal supercharger as a factory option. (it was the whine that did it...) At Lions Dragstrip, they won a lot of races when they first came out in 1957-58. One of those was our nemesis when we started racing in the A/Stock class with our 348 Impala in 1958. Some Saturdays, that Ford won and some days, our Impala left him in the dirt. I recorded my brother racing that black 57 Ford with the factory supercharger and it was a victory for our car, this time.

My brother had actually considered a 57 Ford 2 door, with a supercharger, but decided that it was too much money for him at the time. I told him the car should be a 57 Ranchero with the supercharger, but he said he could not take his friends cruising with two seater car. He waited another year and then saved up enough to buy a 58 Impala.

But, as the factory stock car racing class evolved every year, everywhere, the fast guy in 1957 was losing ground to the faster 58 cars, etc. We experienced the same effect as our 58 won a lot of trophies, but in 59, it was hard to keep up with cars that had 55 more horsepower from the factory. Then in 1960, the writing was on the wall...there was no way to compete in the A/Stock class anymore...

Here is a clip for k6:
