Time. This was 4 hours start to finish according to my time stamps. Getting welds straight enough for a skim isn't the worst when you have a removable panel.

  2. Very nice work on the dash! I really like the way you did the column notch.

Thanks! Spent a bit more time straightening it out this morning. Had a bit much crown yesterday so I shrunk the center down with my shrinking disc and ironed out some lows.

  4. You are an amazing craftsman and are inspiring to people who take on these non-Ford hot rod projects. Thank you for documenting this build.

Flipped it on its nose, gonna epoxy and Seam seal the bottom and final mount it to the frame for bodywork

Got bored, needed practice, made a roadster side patterned off this car for fun, it's hanging in the rafters now

You need to post a side by side picture of the before and after.

  7. I'm bored so I made 1/2 a roadster.
    Nice !! Lol

I can relate though. Last time I was bored with nothing to do I made 2 t bucket frames. Unfortunately the last time I had the privilege of being bored with nothing to do was last summer. I should try it more often I think.

Body seam sealed and epoxied underneath (x2) rough placed back on for now. It's going up a few inches. Grill shells getting whacked next.

Wishing some of the metalwork was better but I'm not gonna tear it apart again.

Thanks Jim! Will I see you Sunday?

Got the body roughly on the mounts tonight. Little more work to do to get it locked down to start adjusting gaps and doing bodywork.

Did a little body shimming and radiator cutting. Trying to get it more level with the cowl.

3D Scanned the car, then 3D modeled over the Scan Data in Rhinoceros 5.0, split the surfaces where i wanted and rendered in Keyshot.

  21. That sounds really impressive,
and I'd like to pretend that I have an idea what some of that means.

You had a 3D scanner in the garage? Sounds like it's expensive technology.

    Lots of work.

You know it always puzzled me anyone would weld a deck lid shut.
That was until I built a trunk. There's SOOO much freaking work involved back there. Quarter lip, inner drip rails, lower tray, floor, hinges, latches braces, interior panel landing spots.
About 1/2 way thru I said to my self, "self-stop now and just weld the skin on." The second half of the work was worse than the first.

Yeah it's a pain. Just redid the passenger side for this issue. [IMG][IMG]

Been slow going.... I get distracted easy. Took some time off to finish my homemade camper and build a new pullmax machine. time to get this done for spring I hope.

Tightening up loose ends. Got the interior sheetmetal set, seat Belts figured out, dash mounts, windows working, door handles working, gas pedal done. Gotta finish up the doors and gaps and then it's mud time.
