Hot Rods I need a brake pedal ~ UPDATE

Anyone know of a vendor that will sell just the pedal for a hot rod,I am still working on the brakes and have determined the major problem is the sever modification that was made when it was shortened.

Needs to be the type that's mounted under the car.

All the vendors I am aware of want to sell me the entire assembly which I don't need, I have posted a photo of what I need,if all else fails I can purchase the entire assembly from Chassis Engineering,HRP

 

If no one else closer can help I think I have one here somewhere , free but + post (and Id have to go search for it)

cant you make another,thats what hot roddings about.buying stuff isnt the only way.i admire the aussies ans the swedes esp who despite being far away from the source of parts in us make the stuff themselves to a high standard.

 

I cut one from a 3/8" plate of steel for a customer...Made a cardboard template and flame cut it (just as Jake used to do when he and P-Wood were designing the original Pete & Jakes hardware for the new 'P&J Hot Rod Repair' venture)
The steel's cheap, plasma cutters are common as oxy-acet rigs, and the top tapped loop for brake pedal can be a 1/2" SAE nut welded on 'outrigger style'.
You can get specs right where the template was, and not be confounded by 'adjustments' to someone else's 'fits-alls'.

 

Just call Jason at Pete & Jakes he'll get you what ever you need, has for me several times. I bought one without the tube welded in so I could position it where I wanted it.

 

Which facility is Jason employed? HRP

 

This is not my first rodeo and I was fabricating parts log before the advent of 1-800 parts but time is of the essence and there is already too many irons in the fire,I have tried to make the existing pedal work but it's still not right. HRP

Danny, if you need to woory about the price, just dig up one of those fruit jars you have buried!

Danny, ECI has a pedal for $40. No cutting, welding, grinding or painting..

Very generous and I appreciate the offer but I've wasted too much time trying fabricate the pedal and I'm trying to get the car ready for a road trip next month.HRP

 

A new pedal to me is so cheap its the way I'd go. Maybe I just work slow as it would cost me much more in my time then its worth.

 

Dave,it's not that I fear the price but if it's close to the price of a complete pedal assembly I can buy that locally. HRP

Dick,if they know anything about me it would have to be that I have a vivid imagination and can provide hours of unadulterated banter that can be amusing but lacking in meaningful content! HRP.

 

Well guys I have installed the new brake pedal and although it helped a little the brakes still leave a lot to be desired.

I have installed the adjustable proportional valve and I didn't see any difference/

To refresh the memory disc front/drum rear non power brakes and I still have a extremely hard pedal and about 2" travel. HRP

 

Well, if now you know the pedal ratio is right.....Next on the list ( because it would be easiest ) would be to pull the master cylinder and drop it one bore size. That is if you have had the wheels off and checked the brakes themselves. Did you ever check pressures, front and rear? It really sounds like the master is too big, ( interweb diagnostics ) at least that is where I would go next.
