We just made this that's gonna be in my coupe. Got it at a swap meet a few weeks ago for $10. My Dad made the adaptor mount in his lathe. Think it's pretty cool and I haven't seen anyone use one before.

Wow! Deja Vu, Man.
I actually made a couple a while back, a Ford and a Chevy. I sold the Ford but I still have the Chevy. I noticed that a skateboard wheel fits perfectly in the bottom and gives a nice round, blended, ergonomic feel with no corners.

I guess great minds do think alike.

 

Very cool! Okay u get credit before me, it's all good! Ha ha the cap will sit down a little lower than I show it right now, I just have it lightly pushed on the mount to see what it looked like. I really liked how it has the Ford emblem and then made in Canada. Gotta represent a little patriotic pride!

Is that a front hub dust cap? I wonder if they made anything like that for a Dodge or a Plymouth.....Gene

Sorry i can't post pic's but i am going to try real hard this weekend to learn how. Any way, i always changed out shifter knobs just to have some change.A few years ago i found a little Metal flake job at the red neck rumble. $5 and it was mine. absolutely the best feeling shifter knob i have ever had. Still on car.Not as cool as some i had.But feels like that first boob you got to feel all those years ago. OK maybe not quite right comparison!! lol

 

You guessed it. It's a hub grease/dust cap. These were pretty much state of the art for most manufacturers back in the old days. It seems like they were all similar at 2" I.D. so it may be possible to hunt up a Dodge or Plymouth.

You posted a picture with words and a good one at that. It doesn't matter if a shift knob costs $5 or $105. The one for you is the one that strikes a cord in you. It's the interface between you and your machine and that's a personal thing for all of us.

 

They did make them for the Mopars. The Dodge ones from that era will have a "DB" on them (Dodge Brothers), not sure about all Plymouth. Most of the ones I have seen have the boat on them. Might have an extra Doffge if you need it. Send me a PM.

A real 8 ball, since it's a 4 speed Saginaw with r10 Warner overdrive grafted on the back , 8 possible gear selections. Flux

 

my Cabriolet's shift knob is an old door knob that I recall as coming in a box when I got the car in 1958-9. It was still close at hand when I started to rebuild/restore the cabriolet about 5 years ago. It is a fairly soft stone that I polished.




the colors go pretty good with the other interior colors.

was fortunate to get a coupl knobs from norm grabouski, had to take them to my shop, my wife wouldn't let them in the house ,going to use one on my T-v8 if i ever get finished...
