  3. Quite a diversity of cars in 1960s Aussie circuit racing. The Mini,s hounding the big cars was allways fun to watch.

When I was in Oz there were some right hand hooker American cars that were factory. I rode in a '64 BelAir sedan that had a Pontiac dashboard and it looked good. In spite of their nanny-state government, rodding thrives and they are hard core.

  5. As a kid i loved the overdone Aussie Chrysler Royal. In the 1950s & 1960s & 1970s the cars had to be RHD. LHD conversions on private imports were often done by shifting the top half of the column and the wheel to the right and running chains and gears to the cut of lower column that stayed on the left side. Chains were like timing chains and were hidden behind the dash. Naturally the dash and pedals were also converted.

:D Hi Scarebird.I have read many books about the Mustang and other WW2 fighter AC.Ours and theirs. Also knew quiet a few WW2 pilots growing up,as my Father belonged to the local American post.Knew a couple of pilots from the other side also. They flew the BF109.Tried to order the book mentioned couple of times from two different places, and it never arrived. On the Packard/Merlins,a friend of my Fathers worked at Packard before, during and after the war,and he said when asked by some of the members of the Legion post did he work on the aircraft engine line he said yes,and in talking about what was made he said that no Merlins were made there, just Allisons. Thanks for the link to the book. Will have to save my pennies and try to order it again. As to the fitment of the Merlin to Mustang, was going by what I was told by ex USAAF persons that were involved with North American who were stationed in England at the time.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Good for you guys. At least the Old's building wasn't lost to 'progress' . Too many older structures are disappearing.
