Your doing a great job. I took 10" out of the front of my bed. Don't make it too short. And if you shorten the bed without chopping the top it will look odd too. Here's my 36 [IMG][IMG][IMG]

While your at it add a panhard bar to the front. Are you going to run any type of torque arm in the back?

Not sure what skunk victim has in mind for those.
Laying the pillars back was considered. He also suggested we cut the top of the front window slightly to broaden the field of vision. Decisions that will be made at chop time. :)

  16. I find it always ends up a better ride without a front Panhard bar. I don't see the need for a torque arm with ladder bars???

Your truck looks killer!!! So awesome to see one full fendered done right!!

I took 5 off the top. I started a build thread called my way 35 ford truck build. I don't know how to link it to this post. I showed how I chopped the top. Used the cutoff prices to strengthen the weld joints. I also spot welded 2" strips to the bottom side of the roof to strengthen it and also as a type of heat sink

    Look a good!

Needs a gold flake paint job with real nice chrome reverse wheels and lots of shiny stuff on the engine. Paint the frame white with a white interior!

I'm enjoying the process that is for sure!!!
As much as I'd like for it to finish sooner so that I may drive it.....I'm diggin' watching it come to life slowly, the learning curve is truly awesome. I did the same thing a few years back with a custom bike. Taught me so much. Truly blessed to have found someone who's vision is in line with mine and who is as skilled as "skunk victim".
Ok I'm lying a little.....I CANNOT WAIT to drive that thing and hear that 348 !!!! ;):D:cool:

My point was with the exaggerated stance and profile give it a show car style interior and paint to avoid the poor thing getting lost in a sea of crappy RR shite....

Down the road, the truck will get dressed up nicely. I am a man of taste. I'll try not to spare.
Color wise I'm shooting classic and clean. Since I couldn't find pics of a '37 in gloss black to show, here is the idea:

And here is where I want to go with the motor. Colby Martin did a 31 Coupe using a 348 motor that would suit my needs just fine as is. . . .

That w motor certainly has the right look. But three carbs and finned covers is hard to beat.

With all due respect and not trying to be rude. Leaving that cab as is would defy the purpose of the entire build and frankly would look ridiculous. There is a reason why the trucks this one is inspired from have been received so well. It would be like driving a phone booth down the road. I think part of the fun of driving these cars and trucks include some level of discomfort. skunk victim explained it in his reply. Personaly if I wanted head room I would have gone for a 31 Ford. ;)

I'm 6" 270 and fit I'm mine with 3-4" headroom. I used third row seats from a king ranch expedition.
