Projects Trying to un-ugly a 1946 Ford coupe

Cedar Dale Upholstery in Mount Vernon, WA. Paul, the owner, is a good friend of mine and an excellent upholsterer.

 

I had some extra wheels done up in red for when the car gets back




And here is another update from upholstery shop. Should be done in the next few weeks I would imagine

Chris is a great guy. I bought some stuff off of him and he helped me out tremendously. And, his car looks great by the pictures.

 

Now on to the 283! I really like mine, big difference from the flatty, more of a pleasure to drive. It goes down the road good and rides like a caddy.

 

Hi. That is great. Way too many come here wanting to do just the opposite - Take a great body and really screw it up "modernizing" everything thinking it is an improvement.

Picking car up from upholsterers in the next couple days. It was nearly a year ago to the day that I bought it.

Picked the car up last night, and got home this afternoon. It's exactly what I wanted, they did a fantastic job on a timeless design. I have a floor mat for the trunk on order for it

Yes, one of the best. He did the top on my roadster and 53 convertible...this is the first time I have had interior work done and I had no doubt they would do a fantastic job

 

He does nice stuffing. All the rolls look full, no wrinkles. Classic colors and pattern. Perfect.

Well, I got the red wheels and caps on, took a drive to make sure the front end felt ok. I have not really driven it since sliding the dropped axle under it as we had snow on the road. Seemed good. So it's pretty much done until I get the 283 in it.

Nice little hot rod! Or should I say nice big hot rod? I just sold my 47 coupe that I owned since 1988, Sure is a nice big area in the shop now.

 

This car just keeps getting better and better.

Drop that skull off at your painter and have him hit it with some clear for UV protection, that vintage plastic may turn to dust in the sun.

Thanks guys, I am really proud of this car. It's a very nice solid driving car, and I still feel I'm in it for decent money even with the chrome, interior, tires, caps... it is just a fun car to drive. I am going to start working on the 283 soon and maybe late summer/fall do that conversion. It will get rewired at that time, 12V conversion and I will clean up the frame and firewall and probably rebuild the transmission. I also have a very nice 3.54 rear end that I will go through and put under it. So it will be somewhat of a small project.

 

NICE! Looks like it is right out of the Rod and Custom little book of old! You have recreated a piece of history that so many of us on this site enjoy!
