Thanks guys! Actually I have more plans for taillights but that has to wait until spring because my garage is still without heating and it's getting colder. Doors and tailgate are also at my work so I can do them there.

More progress on the build... Spent few nights working with doors and all the prep work are now done. Almost forgot to take pics but here's few. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

There's been some daily driver shit and paint jobs for others going on so I haven't got any time for this. When I got a little time I worked with tailgate. Skin needed a new lower section so I fadricated it from sheet metal and weld it on. Result was far from perfect and what I wanted but hey it's rust free tailgate now! After hammer and dolly treatment it was decent enough to do prep work. I did all prep work today and now it's ready for primer. Cheers! Maybe I should stop by at your place someday to check out your build or should I wait one year more?

Yesterday I shot primers to the tailgate. Hood, front fenders, doors and tailgate are now ready for blocking. Next task is rest of the body but before that I have to finish my garage. IMG_20170404_144017062.jpg IMG_20170405_060158440.jpg

Yeehaw, now my garage is finished and warm so let's get back to work. Today I took whole interior out and removed quarter windows. There's so many spots to repair so I started to work on right side quarter panel. There was that huge dent what was filled with bondo so I cutted bad piece out and cut right size of piece out of repair panel. Lower section of quarter and rocker was leaded so after grinding that out there was left badly pitted metal. Now I have to fabricate that lip again...damn. I have to clean all rust out and get some epoxy primer in there.

So here's gonna be some updates again... Stay tuned for more! IMG_20171209_174004897.jpg IMG_20171209_174059181.jpg

There's that loyal Taunus now lowered, new paint, new wheels and tires. Those skinny whites caught your eye? Little off topic with a pic.. IMG_20171211_171819351.jpg

Yesterday evening was well spent... look what I have done. IMG_20171211_191008512.jpg IMG_20171211_215403950.jpg

    Thanks!

Been working with dents on the right side and rust hole on the right rocker. When you got just few hammers, dollies and small anvil it will take forever to make patches out of sheet metal. Well there's plenty of time to do some magic with shitty tools. Front fender will cover front of the rocker so it turned out way too good. Rust rust rust... Well this car still have it.

I started to work on left side which was way worse than right. First I cut roughly all rusted metal out just to find out that inner wheel well was also badly rusted. It was time to find that big piece of sheet metal again and make a wheel well out of it. I left little of old wheel well just to make sure that wheel opening stays in right shape. IMG_20171219_200956325.jpg IMG_20171221_173955063.jpg IMG_20171221_194010453.jpg

After inner wheel well was welded it was time to get that quarter panel fixed. I had that repair panel for Macs but it took quite long to get it in right place and shape. Had to do some reshaping before it was ready to weld. Since repair panel was for sedan it was also too short to get all rust fixed by one piece. Rear of quarter still needs a patch so I didn't weld one seam and left it open. IMG_20171223_160917883.jpg IMG_20171223_170346098.jpg IMG_20171223_170757785.jpg

    Thanks!

I have been thinking options for gas cap because that stock one is no go in this build. It will be deleted that's for sure. I think that I'll go with a flush mount gas cap and relocate filler hole somewhere else.

Damn, I've been sick almost two weeks but I think that I'm getting better now. This flu just won't go away and it's that season here again...
So I ordered that flush mount gas cap from ebay and received it few days ago. After a quick think it ended up in the top of the fender. Cut the hole for it and gave a little hammering before welding for two sides of the hole to get that steel bung to fit little better. I also cut old gas cap opening out, fabricated a patch to fill it up and welded it. Now left rear fender has nice smooth lines. I dig that... Time for a little update...

Left rear quarter is now ready for prep job. Windshield was still on the car and headliner so I removed them. After the headliner was out I found some more rotten metal from right side rear quarter window opening. Inside and outside was rusted out. This car is getting on my nerves with all this rust...

Also left rocker had same rust issue as right side so that had to care of too and after I removed head lights I found some rot under left low beam bucket. Weld weld weld... F...k I need a beer.

Looks like I have lost some pics from my phone but here's few shots.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Finally winter is over or so I hope.. Snow has melted really fast so it was time to get this car out of the garage for some sandblasting. All door jambs, window openings and drip rails needed some blasting. Yesterday was sunny and quite warm to do this job.

Of course I ran out of sand but I blasted rails, corners etc. out of rust and paint. Rest of the paint can be easily sanded away. I knew already that after blasting there will be more welding to come. Nothing big but after I got cowl cleaned out of sand my suspicion was right. Inside cowl is rusted through. Only few pin holes and it could be much worse but it needs to be fixed properly. Blaaah...[IMG][IMG][IMG]

It's really hard to see from small side holes how bad cowl is so it was time to do a surgery... Well it's bad but let's stay positive because it really could be much worse. I thought that all welds would be done by end of this month but it might take longer...[IMG]

Repair panel is coming along faster than I thought. Air box hat needs some rust removal before I can weld it to the new panel.[IMG][IMG]

Since I'm in the roll with this thing I started work on right side. Not so bad as left side but it needs also a new panel. Takes quite a while to do it in one piece with my skills and shitty tools. [IMG][IMG]

It will be very rewarding when you have paint on it knowing all the hard work you've done.. Can't wait to see it finished....

Yes it will! I'm already brainstorming color combo. Main colors are going to be white and red that's for sure. Just trying to figure out what kind of white and red, pearl, candy... Everyday at work I'm going through color samples. :D

Thanks! Trying so hard to get it in primer by end of the summer.

At this weeks episode was to complete inner cowl repair. Air box hats went through sandstorm before I welded them in to the new panels. Now inner cowl is ready... IMG_20180427_225613.jpg IMG_20180427_225705.jpg IMG_20180427_225740.jpg
