Quick sidebar question; You guys posting in B&W....is that a feature of your camera, or are you doctoring the pic? Some of them, with the right background, look quite outstandingly vintage.

And Kiwi.....post #62, pic 1.....I see you in there. (Gotta love a good reflection.)

I just did my 1929 Cadillac Fleetwood lawn art, and I could choose from many different looks in black n white.
    It's cool and fun. IMG_20170319_001628.jpg

RIVERSIDE RACEWAY, RIVERSIDE, CA 1959 PITS
    Hello,

We grew up in the early 50’s and became aware of hot rods all around us. As small as the Westside of Long Beach was concerned, there was a larger world out there. One of those exploration trips was a long drive in the wee hours of the morning to Riverside Raceway in Riverside, CA in 1959. There were several older teenagers and me, the young kid. I was given the job of filming all of the cars, bringing a sack lunch full of sandwiches and apples, and staying out of the way of the older teens. No one wants a little brother (actually, I was as tall as the older guys, definitely taller than my brother) hanging around such drag racers in another city.

So, I stayed away from them most of the day, doing what I thought was my vision of hot rods and drag racers. This was the first thing I saw that influenced my brain. The bright Candy Apple/Tahitian Red color roadster in the early morning sun reflections made me think of my favorite neighborhood, Ford F100 truck back in Long Beach. (Candy Apple-Tahitian Red, white upholstery, lowered, chrome wheels, etc.) That was one cool truck from the 50’s. This was going to be one heck of a day..."Off to see the wizards..."

my camera is 15 years old, new ones may be different, but I can only shoot in color. I do the B&W on the computer.

Wow, some really great photos. It certainly takes a trained eye to capture the right image.
