Art & Inspiration Spring road trip

Last March I took a little road trip to NYC in my 57 Suburban to play robots, with our high school Robotics team. This year we are going to San Francisco, and again I find myself on the road. Spent last night in Lancaster.


Drove past the James Dean crash site this morning.



Plan to head up the PCH for the last few miles. I'll be in the city for three days.

I zoomed in on that boulder; it looks like a petrified head of the Monster From The Black Lagoon! Can you load it in th Eva know of your Suburban?

 

thanks guys! Delivered the robot, left my truck at the school (they have security there, and it's in a good neighborhood). took my first Uber ride into downtown SF to the hotel. Fun!

 

Are you on spring break? Our school has a group of students volunteering in Peru helping to build houses. This spring break I am being selfish and not volunteering just recuperating. Have fun with the bots.

It was a tiring weekend, especially since I got a mild cold. And using public transportation involves walking a lot. The robot did well, we had to fix a few things that broke. We won seven of our ten qualifying matches. We ranked 7 of 41 teams. We lost in the quarterfinals. The kids had a good time, and learned a lot that we will use in our upcoming competition in Phoenix. I hit the road home already. I'll see how far I get tonight. Had to add a little water to the suburban, no other issues.

I didn't get many robot pictures this time. I usually do. here's one from when we just finished building it.



and a picture of it after it climbed up the rope (!). We have two sets of bumpers, red and blue, depending on which side of the field we are assigned to play that match.

Made it past Phoenix, stopped for a burger. Might stop in Tucson and see how my brother is doing on his 58 Chevy wheel bearing job
