Hot Rods Save of the day!!(single seater)

So I have a wide hair to build a single seat race car from a 22/23 dodge cowl I have. My Pops had an old trailer he had drug home, made from a set of T rails, so I'm thinking this will be the foundation for the build. Anyway long story short I think I saved a set of rails from the scrapper.

 

Drivetrain ideas yet?

I have a twodoor Rambler wagon that I want to build a sleeper out of it has a flathead six with a 3 speed overdrive so that might be an option.

 

That frame looks like a good foundation for the car you plan to build, but I don't think it's a Model T Ford frame. All Model T cars had transverse springs front and rear. This frame appears to have hangers for parallel leafs. Could be TT truck, as I am not familiar with the suspension on them. Dozens of makes in the teens and '20s had parallel lead springs, so I don't know what it is or was. The body that was taken off of it was probably tossed in a ravine to stop erosion as they just wanted the frame for a homebuilt trailer.

All the things on the frame were welded on at some time for the trailer, its a T frame.

There was a bit of snow Monday a.m. We have had a brutal winter so no snow is fine with me!!!!

I would have saved the axle over saving the rails.

 

Those things are a dime a dozen around here. It could have been saved but not by me. A guy would have spent more getting it straightend and the perch pin out.

 

Looks like a nice project to follow. Based on the hole lay out I think that is a 26-27 Ford frame, front bumper bracket holes are the reason. Bob

 

I got to mocking up a chassis the last few days.

 

Nice save on the rails, and cool job on the front crossmember. Looks OEM.

 

My pops has had these old trailer fenders laying around for years. I had a thought about a track nose so I cut one side off to get a better idea what it might look like. I'm not sold on the idea yet.

 

Those rails are liable to crack where the welds were. T frames weren't all that strong when new!

 

Ill take my chances, the whole thing probably isnt going to weigh but 1500 pounds. Henry steel is good shit, ever seen the I beam they twisted like a pretzel?

 

Stuck the cowl on the rails, now to figure out the back side.

 

Found some 46-8 front fenders for the tail end of my single seat project. The side with original paint is 47-8 and the sandblasted fender is a 46. After tacking them together my wife said they look different, I thought it was because one side was clean metal and the other was crusty. She was correct, The body line on a 46 fender has a rounded shape and the47-8 has an angular shape. Who would have thunk? Good thing I have another 46 fender to use.

 

Nobody would ever notice. Just leave the two fenders welded up already and get going! Cool car!
