Hot Rods TRADED CARS - NEW PROJECT IN MY GARAGE

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Mar 4, 2017.

  1. Some of you may remember I bought a 1932 Ford street rod from a friend who suffered a stroke and needed some financial help.

I fixed several problems that happens when cars sit and drove the car several hundred miles to make sure the car is road worth before offering it for sale.

I posted it here on the Hamb and got a lot of trade offers but was hoping for a cash offer but after over a year I was talking with fellow Hamber Ron and we struck a deal and the red deuce went to Austin,Texas and Ron's red primed deuce hiboy mordor came to South Carolina.

I don't have a problem with the extra doors having already owned a 4 door deuce in the past.

There are a few items I need to address but nothing major,it was painfully obvious that Ron is not as tall as I am,the seat needs to be re-positioned and I have a list of things I need to do to make it mine.

This is what I saw when I arrived a racinman Rick's garage. HRP

First thought.... why? But then I've done somewhat the same thing when it comes to another '40 Ford. Looks nice!

Nice car. I like it. It even has a Corvette engine. Looking forward to see how it looks with fenders.

HP -might want to look at the title of your thread again - have fun with your new ride - so, how will you decide which car to take out for a drive now?

Wow! That thing is REALLY sanitary and neat as a pin. The fit and finish look really nice! I have never really been a deuce guy but this is one that I can very easily picture myself owning. The car looks great Danny - enjoy it!

  10. That's a good problem right?

I am attending a old friends funeral this afternoon and I will drive my old beater sedan, there is no rhyme or reason in my particular ride when making the decision. HRP

I love the 4 door, please give us a rundown of your list of things to make it yours.
Please also tell us that full fenders are on the list Danny ;)

For the longest time I always had to have 2 doors and nothing else well, that has changed and for many reasons.
I'm a whole pile older and access has become more important
    Easy entry to the back
lots of leg room back there
    and comfortable.
I've had mordoors in the past but never really appreciated them.
50 Buick (solid, well built from the factory)
    53 Lincoln Capri (GREAT car)
and now my 1919 Dort Touring (now highly modified for todays driving)

    Nice score, enjoy! :)

It's so clean and well built, that was a good trade! What are the plans for the future?

There is a four door '34 in a barn where I grew up that I've been trying to buy forever. I've always liked the idea of a moredoor built very similar to yours

  23. Larry, first thing first,I need to check out the brakes, they work but I want them to work much better.

I'm 6'4" tall and Ron must be shorter than me.the seat is all the way back and I still need more room.

Everything I have in mind for now is minor,It is widely known I am not a fan of electric fans but this one sounds like a hoover vacuum cleaner,It is louder than the engine!

You and Brenda like the idea of fenders but right now they are not in the budget although I do have a original front apron,a dropped head light bar,a set of bumpers and a new set of vulcanized running boards on hand,,so fenders may be in the future.

The little 283 runs like a champ and the car rides and steers great. HRP

  24. It is a well built car and Ron told me this is the first ground up he has ever done,he far exceed my first build. HRP

I'm not a 4 door guy, but for this I would definitely make an exception. I would just change the name on the title!
