Spotted a very nice 58 Belaire this week at the Fall Carlisle Florida Autofest Auction. Rare Anniversary Gold and Inca Silver color combo.

I have a feeling I know why that color combo is rare!

  5. What are the odds of these being the same car? I know the paint isn't an exact match but the outlining around the trim and such is close enough to speculate...maybe it got changed up a lil at a later date like most kustoms did? Overlook the red steering wheel in the junkyard car also, it appears to be the only red item inside. The Keller car does have the door handles and Biscayne script but those could have been shaved if/when it was "updated." The Keller car also had a louvered hood, which is missing from the junkyard car. Someone chime in and tell me its all just wishful delusions lol. I tried google for any other info on the Keller car but came up empty handed.

There is something special about the sedan deliveries, to me, anyway!

Thanks for posting this picture, but I have to say, I think this is a good example to show how not to do a 58! I can't see anything that has been done to it that appeals to me, other than being lowered all the way around.

They look similar to the teeth in a 53 Desoto grille.

Yard Find! By 58 Impala (andy)
upload_2017-5-7_5-7-18.png 1962 L.B. Poly HS Highlife School Newspaper
    Hey Andy,

Going back to July 3, 2016…nice yard find, I wish that was my old 58 black Impala. I finally found the actual 55 year old school newspaper that had the article and showcase of my 58 Chevy Impala. The article was written by a newbie reporter. I remember that I had to show him how to take good photos of the car at the photo shoot, on campus. Part of the article was factual and overall, I was pleased that it was a feature story. So, it was a total surprise that it popped out of an old Junior High School year book when we were cleaning up our attic recently. Spring cleaning and all… My wife is a killer on getting rid of old stuff…luckily I am still around. Ha!

When the cub reporter wrote the article, I had the C&O installed, but did not put on the stickers in the rear side windows. Because his notes were crap, he wrote that I had a B&M hydro and magnesium wheels. Magnesium wheels? For a teenager? Wow! What a reporter with accurate facts! At least the majority of the teachers, administration and students probably thought it was a well written article.

The writer went on to say that I had a set of 1961 Pontiac mufflers for better performance on the street. The writer had a friend that owned a 61 Pontiac and he forgot that I told him the straight through mufflers came from a Corvette. The newbie could not figure out why I would install Corvette mufflers on a completely good sedan… So, he inserted the 1961 Pontiac info. Not a car guy… Who captions a photo …”this is the side view and this one is a rear view?” That is some top notch journalism.

    Junji

I did take a lot of “guff,” from my hot rod friends about the B.S. in the article. But, at least my car was featured in the senior year school newspaper for lasting memories. Check out the small hubcaps and beauty rings, plus the chromed top of the 348 3 carb, air cleaner. Did I install those aluminum, Moon breathers correctly? No Buick Skylark wires, yet, that came within the next year. Since drag racing at Lions is no longer possible in the A/Stock class, a different custom approach was taken for fast, street cruising and racing in 1963.
