About 5 years ago I bought a 430 Lincoln/ and 8x2 set-up from Larry Brunkala at Precision Fabrication. At the time I wasn't sure what project it would go in but it was such an imposing combination that I had to have it. He recommended Tony up at Ross Racing Engines as someone who could build this engine properly. As you guys know, they have a plank head similar to a 348/409 and take specially configured pistons etc. to work right. I contacted Tony and he agreed to take it on. We sat on it for a while so I could think about what to put it in. After that he and Bob Hilton started to build his Lil Miss- chevious coupe. I really liked what I saw, so I went out and looked at his finished coupe. One thing led to another and I found a really nice coupe body in Southern Wyo. and hauled it out to them. And Finally! this weekend I got to see the finished car in person!

My son (25) and I will fly out and drive it down to LSRU. I haven't been to Austin since '85 when I got out the service so that'll be a fun trip.

I gave them an idea of the color and Russ just knocked it out of the park. He said he sprayed out about 35 paint chips, haha

So nice. I hope it looks as good in the sun as it does under the lights. LSR is the right place to show it off. Looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah we had a halogen out looking at it and it's more blue pearl. Those inside lights made it more purple.

Mr. Hilton and Mr. Lombardi are breaking Mr. Fords rule, they'll build you a ford in any color you want... congrats, that's one great looking coupe! Can't wait to see it in Austin....

Amazing car. Really well done, and a stand out from the crowd engine.
Owning both an A coupe and a 62 Lincoln, I look at the 430 in my Continental and think to myself that it would be overkill in a little Model A. I can tell you one thing, overkill never looked so good with what you have done to your engine and your car. You must have a hard time keeping rear tires on that thing. But what a great problem to have!

very cool, that 8x2 setup is intimidating looking. Are you running all 8 or are some blocked off? What does the rest of the drivetrain consist of?

Thanks for your comments guys, After running a business for almost 25 years and getting two boys through college, etc. this has been on my mind for a looong time. I was really jacked to see it in person. Here's specs:
1960 MEL 430 bored/stroked to 487 @ 10.25:1 . Hyd. roller cam. Weiand Drag Star intake. All carbs are functional., the main reason we opened up the engine size. Runs on center 4 then catches outer 4. We'll need to run it to fine tune the transition. Front sump pan was shallowed a little to gain ground clearance as the block is really tall. then floor was lengthened and has trap doors in it. It looks totally original, Tony did a hell of a nice job with that. Holds 13 qts! The deuce chassis was stretched 2"to fit that beast but it doesn't show really., thank you Ford for front-mount distributors! WC T5 with some mods to beef it up. Rear is early nine inch about '59 vintage. '40 rear spring, P&J bars. Lincoln brakes. Original parts wherever we could.
I didn't really want to re-invent the wheel. Lord knows there's been everything in the world done to these things and I love all of them. I just wanted a good, solid, bad-ass hot rod!
    And I got it.

  28. Oh my! In the 70s I had a 66 lincoln coupe with a 462. My dad had a 63 with a 430 and we swapped cars for a week. I swear, that 430 was stronger than my 462 and the 63 was more fun to drive. HUGE torque monsters even in a heavy car!
