QUESTION: Is Steve McQueen double clutching ?

  2. TRUE! But you didn't see that when you first saw it in a theater did you? That's my point. The fact that it has been shown twelve million times on the small screen is why you noticed it.
    Darn Oregonians, always making trouble!
Has it warmed up? I heard more snow was predicted! Jeez!

    Define "Warm" Gary.
No snow on this side of town, saw some hail in the yard this a.m.

Could be but more than likely it was because it was one of the first "real" chase type movies I had ever seen and I was probably leaving fingernail marks in the armrest of the theatre seat.
I had just moved to the big city in 68 so I probably looked like a kid in a candy store.

One of the "problems with movie cars" threads said the sound was from a gt40? race car, that's why it sounds so good, plus his car was an automatic.

Blue... I dig ya, man. But posting shit like that gets you 10 minutes in a dark corner of your shop and no tools. Just reflect on what you posted. There is NO emoji to cover it.

Ya know, after the release of "Armageddon", Bruce Willis was making the late night TV tours to promote the movie. I think he was on "The Late Show" and was told how fake and unrealistic the movie was. He smirked, looked into the camera and said, "Gees, man! It's a damn movie. It was meant to entertain."

Winning. Things were nuts around Indy for weeks when they were shooting it.

Hey Fred it was a tongue in cheek response meant in a humorous vein.
Sarcasm is hard to convey in a post.
I'm sure you really know how I feel about those movies.
Can I get out of the corner now ? :D

How about 'Lawless' from a few years ago. Not really a car move but has some killer cars in it...especially Ricket's RPU hot rod.

Return to Macon County, Two-lane Blacktop, American Grafittie, Macon County Line, California Kid... they're all great, even the movies with corney acting and plots...

Goldfinger had some great '64 Fords,

thunderbird, ranchero, Country Squire, Lincoln continental, mustang.

There's a sweet army '54 Ranch Wagon in one scene.

I read somewhere that to get the sound for the driving and chase sequences, one of the film crew rode in the backseat of the Aston Martin with a tape recorder while someone from Aston Martin drove around the test track.

Certainly better than the movie where Rodger Moore commended an AMC Hornet for a car chase. :(

AldeanFan, That Hornet was the first real car to do a 360 degree barrel roll in a movie.

How about the real cars, hot rods, drag racers, LSRs, and even the Chrysler Turbine Car in the Lively Set.

my wife and i were watching the james bond movie where the bad guys dissolved cocaine into gasoline and hauled it in a tanker truck. at one point, bond cuts the air lines and the truck's brake pedal goes to the floor. i tried to explain that air brakes lock up when this is done, but my wife yelled, "shut up! do you have to ruin every movie for me? it was in the script, so just be quiet and watch!"

Nitpick department: There aren't any 175mph banked curves at the Nurburgring (or probably Nuremburg, either, but I don't know that for sure). Youz be thinking of Monza, me thinks. Gary

    Thanks,
I flat forgot to include the Lively Set on my list. The cars in that movie are killer.Bikini Beach is in the same category with a bunch of real diggers from the era (and the Manta Ray) and even the crash scene is handled pretty well.
