Never owned W/W's but this is what we used years ago on white letter T/A's that the sidewalls always turned brown on (remember those).

I found waterless hand cleaner worked very well.
Westleys Bleach White did a poor job.

Ajax cleanser, Comet cleanser, Bon-Ami cleanser. Use with a stiff brush.
Teddy DeMello swore by yellow lye soap. He used to bring it home from Sally Thompson's Pie Co. where he worked. He had a stock original '32 hood he found in an abandoned barn, 21 louvers.
    1957:
Set it down on his Mom's front lawn and washed the insides of the hood sides...Factory paint shone like it was new. Burnt the lawn in a 3 foot by 5 foot rectangle, plumb down to the ground!
As of 1996, no grass ever grew back in that spot! It was a landmark...

Yea Coker told me simple green. Can I still use a tire shine on the black part of the tire or will it run down on the white wall eventually

Take your time, and use Kiwi or Parade Dress black shoe polish. Use a shoe brush, with the paste type polish. No 'spit shine', just a good application of polish (light) and brush it thoroughly. Then buff with a clean terrycloth towel.

  17. W/W's on my avatar 39 have stayed "super" white by using only Simple Green with a stiff bristle brush and the odd SOS pad on scuffs & marks.............as per Coker instructions, do not use any product with Bleach, a browning agent particularly with sunlite............even the Simple Green is rinsed off well and completely.............

I have Diamond Back Classic Wide White Walls. They told me just to use water, car washing soap and a stiff bristle brush then hose off. It really does work the best on these tires. Nothing to buy just a little elbow grease and you'll have really bright White Walls. Mine are 15 years old and look brand new!

Simple green . Spray on and use a rag to wipe any spots and hose off. It also brings up the black parts too.

Re Tire whitewall tire cleaner is a favorite here in Nor Cal. I also use Simple Green but for stubborn stains Re Tire works really well.

  27. I bought so me skinny whites off the interweb..after a year they are skinny tans! I have even taken wet or dry sandpaper to try to sand the damn things back to white...I learned again...you get what you pay for. I think I'm gonna get some white shoe polish and lay a couple coats on...anythings an improvement over how bad they look now

Coker used to warn against using bleech white or the like as they claim it will dry and crack your whitewalls.
