Been waiting for this day since I started my re-do of my 46 coupe last fall. Added a fresh .040 over 283 with the original trans, rear end. Sid's dropped axle, reversed eye rear spring, and a load more. Just got back my exhaust system from having it coated that I fabricated, and re-installed it. Been dying to drive it, and today was the day! It goes down the road great, rides, stops good, and the 283 was just the ticket for this car, (even though it was a pain in the ass on some parts of the build). Still have some things to do, but all the time consuming crap is done. Going to do The Wisconsin 100 run this spring. Thanks for looking!, Mike. P1010005 (4).JPG

That's a beauty! Everything just right...Dead ringer for mine in '62!
Mine was cobalt blue, (looked black) '46 Super Deluxe, 296" flattie, then got the 331" Chrys hemi, 6-71 with 4 Strombergs. Took the hood off for the 6-71...LOL
Should have done the small block Chevy, but it went in my '46 Tudor...

Ya done good - yep, great to finally be able to hit the road - I would leave the hood off, for now, for that Hoodlum Hot Rod look

Hi Chris, I used the Hurst front motor mount, wanted to be like the "old days" install. Used a wilcap adaptor with the merc pressure plate and 101/2" clutch. The install was easy, just a lot of other things that took time. Well worth the effort.

Thanks, It sure is easier to work on with the hood off! Back in the old days, when you put a new engine in your car, we used to leave the hood of for awhile to show off!

    Sweet!
How does the chev work with the original drivetrain?
    Still have to shift slow?
    So not to grind?
I think that is what bothers me more then the slow flatty.

I really like it better then the flatty, I have the clutch adjusted just right and it shifts smooth with no grinding. The original drive train will be fine as long as you don't beat the hell out of it. Thanks, mike.

Mike, the profile of your car is outstanding. Of most importance, it is not to low to be usable. What size rubber are you using. Let me know if you have plans to go show off in TN this Spring or Summer. Richard

I'd look at 'true' flywheel surface, pressure plate condition, synchros, main drive end play and transmission pocket bearing.
Those trannies shift nicely when everything is less than worn out...

    I have a '47 4dr. just like yours...

  26. Hotrodyankee, I always enjoy the 1st WHITE KNUCKLE ride. I just keep looking in the rear view mirror to see what falls off. LOL. Bruce.

Just perfect! You have the look down pat. I figured Chris would be interested in your 283 installation - a great engine swap for both your cars. Nice work.

I hear ya Bruce, that first ride is what this hobby is all about. Well worth all the effort. Did you get your front end fixed?
