Great progress on your build, I have 32 coupe on pallet rack in my warehouse stashed for project I most likely will never get to.

Another long day today. I started the day finish sanding the drivers door completely. I then turned to cleaning up as much of the car as I could to be able to spray some surfacer to finish the day. I covered as much of the car as I got finished with 3 coats. Tomorrow I'll most likely continue the body work, with some block sanding of the surfacer also. What a day.....

 

Geeze your moving right along there Sam! I need to get into high gear and get my body prepped and ready for paint!

Another productive day yesterday. With all 4 wheels cleaned, I primed and painted them. I just couldn't body sand again. Besides, I want to get the tires mounted on them. I'm still unsure of the frame color. I originally wanted to paint it the same as the rest of the car. I am still leaning that way. [ Is that going to be too much???

 

A semi-gloss black chassis always looks right, regardless of the body color.

 

Saturday, I took out the entire seat back and frame. The storage box attached will need some repair as well as some of the wood will need replaced. I cleaned out the car, to prepare it for primer and paint. Not much progress but I did manage to start cleaning up the grill shell. I put about 3 hours in it to finish the day.

 

Today, I finished the grill shell. After cleaning, and welding up a few broken areas, I gave it a coat of body icing since it is getting painted with the rest of the car. After much hand sanding I gave it a coat of primer. I then finished painting the bottom of the foot board pan so it could be placed permanently in the car. I had one wheel that had a run from painting so I sanded it off, scuffed the wheel and repainted ANOTHER RUN right back in it...... frustrating!!

I haven't posted for awhile but progress is slow but steady. I've spent a lot of time filling pits, and continuing bodywork. I've also started the process of cleaning the floor and applying POR paint. I've even started cleaning up the visor. This was a hard item to come by, and its a little rough, but it will look like new when finished. I don't think there are any easy parts to find for this car.

My next Big hurdle is making the repairs to the grill. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. It's missing 2 bars, and several need straightening.

That's a very nice looking project!!

 

I finished the POR on the inner floor the other day. There hasn't been much progress since then, but today I managed to finish fabbing up a pair of axle blocks my son started on to lower the rearend 3 1/8 inches. After completing them I set the rearend to see if the ride heigth was going to be satisfactory. It works for me. I like it. Tomorrow it's back to sanding....

 

More progress today Finally!! Due to the previous owner not being able to find my trunk lid in 2 1/2 years I was forced into building my own. Today was the day for it. I roughed out the exterior shell. It's a reasonable first fit, but will need some work yet. Once I get it right, I'll build a wood frame to attach it to. For now I just wanted to see if I could do it. I'll go get some oak to build the frame tomorrow.

That lid is AWESOME!

 

Today I received a call from a fellow Hamber. It appears I am making a second trunk lid. So i thought I'd let you in on the process. First I cut the sheet metal to width allowing enough extra to brake 3/4" sides and a top edge. After that I measured the radius at the top of the sides and cut them into the deck lid. I then layout the edges every 2 inches all the way around the 3 sides.Almost halfway down the sides I made them every 1 inch. Using a shrinker/stretcher I shrunk the edges till they fit the cardboard patterns I made of the trunk area. If I happened to go a little tight I simply stretched the edge back out. I am not finished yet, but I'm within 6 inches of the bottom edge. Once I shrink up an inside brace for the bottom edge, the swell in the middle will disappear. This weekend I'll cut some oak and assemble a frame, then attach the deck lid and finish the lower edge and install the latch assembly. I also snagged this nice winged goddess on ebay for half what they normally go for on there.

 

I think I may have been the one who directed the guy to you. That is some superb work! Nice ornament, too. I have had a couple of those. I never want to let them go because they are so beautiful. Congrats on your find.
