Art & Inspiration METAL DIE CAST TUESDAY !

I don't know where you can buy the detailed 1/24th scale cars and trucks anymore since the Franklen Mint and the Danbury Mint stopped production.I bought quite a few of them.

 

.................I see them pop up on E-bay and Craigslist quite often, sometimes at a favorable price point.

 

... I saw this '57 in the show room at West Coast Choppers on visit to Long Beach almost 20 years ago ...

 

It's too bad the Danbury Mint, and Franklin Mint, no longer offer die cast cars... the detail that of their products was amazing, including some that had operating crank up windows, and cloth folding convertible tops! The California Kid is one of my favorites; it is rare and pricey! I bought a more affordable one that is missing the headlights, rear view mirror, and rear bumper. Replacement parts are not available; I hope to rob my model car junk box and add the missing parts.

They do still offer die cast cars. I just got an ad from Danbury Mint this week for a larger 1/18th scale car.

 

I dug this one up in my yard years ago. I think it's cool

 

Clean up that desk, send me some!

So since nobody complained about Muscle Machines here are a few in the mix.
Started collecting late and stopped early before it got out of hand, gotta concentrate on the real steal. At the risk of being mundane here's my stash and thank God it's the end, can't compete against this crowd! I do take comfort in "like minds think alike" or something like that.............................
PS, Also can't compete with the photography, some of you should be working for PlayBoy.....................................

someone looking for me. I'd like to paint mine like the Golden Sahara but Its kool as is....

I'll Play Along. At one time I had about 80 of these but gave most of them away to kids who came to my car shows. I've got seven left.
