Over the winter period I did what I should have done on the rear end of my COE in the first place. Made proper fenders, and fit big fat wide wheels to make it look like business at the back. I used the single wheel option in the first place just to get it on the road, but loads of my friends and people said what I already knew !, it looked pinched in and narrow not right at all. Well I am very pleased with the result and I think it makes the truck beefy, and it's still the same width as before, with the front and rear fenders lining up. Now to start getting the use out of it.
IMO, only, I think the bed is too small...i.e. short, and too low. Were it mine, I would put a platform bed that was just above the fender and extending behind the wheels a couple of feet. I think that would better balance the 'mass' of the cab. Also, I'd lose the front white wall and paint the wheels a lighter color. On the other hand , it ISN'T mine, and if you are pleased with it, that is all that matters. It is a nice truck! Ray
Aw, Contraire, Ray! If you 'balanced it out' with a high platform bed, you'd be defeating the purpose of the COE's tall cab! Its pure overstatedness makes for its overall charm, if a little 'shocking' ... I just thought the rear fenders should have been drawn more deeply, to compliment the fronts. Overall, the COE makes for a nice stablemate for the Center Door T!
Mike, I thought now I might just fit some shortish mud flaps to bring the fenders down just a little more, apart from that, I like the short bed truck, it's the 101" wheel base truck which was the shortest that Ford made. I didn't want a hauler I wanted a different truck small to use, and I have that now. And yes I am sure they talk to each other in the garage at night.
It's is an awesome ride that I wouldn't change. I love unique and this is the perfect example of unique. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You've done a fine job on that little truck....I also agree that a nice set of mudflaps would enhance the visual, especially from behind...maybe an old Ford logo, or even the Yosemite Sam flaps would add a 'fun' aspect as well. I really like ''the look'' of it, and the colors are very complimentary. I bet it makes quite a statement in your community in the UK.....I like it!!!
