    Rookie,
that car in your first picture looks bad for the driver. That cable went through the cockpit and tore the steering wheel off. sheesh!

Another interesting photo, Rootie. Thank you.

They're all sitting on a big car but I see mostly midget drivers in the photo. I can make out Eddie Haddad and Swede Lindskog. I think I see Roy Russing as well.

Are there any additional details on this shot? Thanks again.

I know nothing more, I just figured it was a track promo shot, though the sombreros may be significant of something ??

I don't know any more about that shot either, but I'm sure it didn't end well for the driver.

Guy behind the counter was probably John Kretchmar, I used to buy many parts from him while building my roadster in 1962.
Joe McClenden owned the business on Florence, then moved to Long beach on Willow for larger space.-----Don

Seeing that name on the sign and knowing the proximity of Gresham (Oregon), I'm guessing there is a connection to the famous Latourell Falls in the Columbia River Gorge.
I see that Joseph Latourell was a postmaster for the Rooster Rock area, another famous Oregon landmark that draws a lot of attention (wink, wink).
