they were killed in 1934. I'm surprised they did not have it fixed, but I guess they cashed in by putting on exhibit and charging people to see it.

 

As stated in post #19, a lot of stuff was stripped from the bodies and some stuff from the car was taken by souvenir hunters. Gruesome, but true.

 

Historical accounts say a mob showed up soon after the ambush, and they lost control of the scene. Onlookers were scooping up spent shells, broken glass, car parts, locks of hair and blood stained clothing. Others were attempting to remove Mr. Barrows fingers and such with a pocket knife.

 

Looking at original crime scene photos of the car, I would say that the car is indeed the real thing. Look at the bullet holes on the driver side doors, size, location, some are almost on top of one another causing large holes. They are identical. That would be very hard to replicate. I found a bunch more shot up replicas but none of the others came close in bullet placement.

 

The car is pretty well documented. The original owner the car was stolen from had to go to court to get it back. Then she drove it home, all full of holes.

 

The Texas Rangers were able to get Clyde to stop on the road, they opened fire on them from the
side using B.A.R.'s, thats a .30-06 round, and the reason for the large holes in the body of the 34.
All the bogus 34,s I've seen have smaller holes. and don't pass the overlay test. After their death
my Grandfather wrote in his journal, (They finally got those damned Cop Killers). Beleave me

B and C and there gang were down right cold blooded killers and they all got what was coming to them. When you go to see the car there is a video with the accounts of people that were there. A person needs to take the time to watch it its very informing.

 

No Doubt about it. This is the real car.

 

That car is very AERODYNAMIC!

 

Remember a B and C car in a Carl Casper show in the '60's. Couldn't tell you if it was the "real" one. Admittedly my memory isn't great but I remember it being black. Must a painted it later on!

 

Creepy.

The wiki entry sez that one of the lawmen studied their meanderings and noticed they skirted the state boundaries of five midwestern states, taking advantage of the "state line rule" then in place. In those days, law enforcement couldn't cross state lines, different jurisdiction. Two-way radio wasn't quite ready for prime time. I remember my dad admonishing me, that it doesn't matter how fast your car is "you can't outrun the radio." So the lawmen deduced where they were going to show up next, visiting family in the area, basically. And waited. The rest, as they say, is history.

 

I thought they were set up by an informant. Not sure if that was the movie or the documentary.
Just to throw this out there,30-06 make little holes going in and big ones going out. The larger holes were probably 45 cal. or 00 buckshot, Our first shooting range was an old junk yard-dumb ass kids destroyed a lot of vintage metal.

 

130 rounds will do that to you.

 

The hell with history I'd cut that sedan into a 5 window coupe so fast it would make your head spin

 

Glad I'm not imagining things. I was at that museum in the '90s.

 

I saw the car in Nevada a few weeks ago wasn't convinced it was the real car. But if it is the real deal it's history

Back in the mid-50's a semi truck and trailer came through our small town in eastern Montana with the "Bonnie and Clyde Death Car". We all lined up and paid a quarter to enter the trailer and view the car. It was a white '34 sedan full of bullet holes. I believe we were scammed out of our money with a fake car.

 

It did tour the country in a semi.

 

But there were fakes, and lawsuits and court orders. This one is the real deal, with records going back to the original dealership that sold it in 1934.

 

I saw it at the Minnesota state fair around 1970. Same car, same color, in a semi.

 

I seen it in the K-mart parking lot , in a Semi trailer about 196? or so .. Grandma was buying me a sub sandwich and she gave me a .25 to see it , the song was popular about then .. Looked at the pics and looked at the car, sure looked real to me..but, I was just a kid , this car looks like the same one ..,morbid thing to look at

 

My Aunt was Mr. Primm's (who owns the casino) assistant when he purchased that car. He went to great lengths to ensure that was THE car that Bonnie & Clyde were killed in!

 

Very cool thanks for sharing ! On my way to SEMA this last year I drove right past this Casino , and had no idea this was there .

Frank Hammer, Texas Ranger, took car of business with B&C. The Feds and local law never could get the job done, the govenernor of Texas gave the go-ahead to hire him and let him track 'em down with a hand picked crew. There's a pretty good book on Hammer's life and of course it covers this too. In fact the books called "the epic life of Frank Hammer, the man who killed Bonnie and Clyde.".

 

Morbid . Cool history.

 

My great grandfather was one of the sheriffs who ambushed them. He was weilding a 12 gauge.
