Projects New project..revised 5/14/18

I been watching this one for a while. Bought it from a Hamber. Won't have it home for a couple of weeks but will load a couple of pics here and more later. Tim

Total build later on. Going to take my time and enjoy the process. Late drive train, leave body basically stock.

chop not planned at this time. Tim, the cabriolet is sitting in the garage waiting for me to get home. I do have a couple of interested parties also waiting for me to get home so they can come check it out

It is supposed to be picked up on Monday and dropped at my house the following Monday. I'm going to do some looking at it and checkout the engine then get some more pics posted. Gonna be fun!

 

Wow, great start Tim. Looks like a solid foundation.
Looks to possibly be a late 50's/early 60's build warmed over a bit; early sealed beams, Chevy V-8 (with 'relieved' firewall), chromed garnish moldings.

 

Looks like a nice car to build. I've seen you mention your old Tudor a number of times on here, I expect you're pretty excited!

 

Well, the '33 got here two weeks ago today. I'm really enjoying playing with this thing. Having the cabrio to drive is keeping me from being in a hurry or setting date goals. I've only done a few things to it but some of it may be interesting.
Some of the details: I bought the car from a hamber in Florida who had it for 5 years. He had some health issues that kept him from getting much done. It is real solid, only needs rockers and a small hole patched in the floor. The engine is a '58 283 with later heads and a '56 4v intake. Likely won't re-use this engine. It is adapted to the original trans/rear combo and still has mechanical brakes..wwweeee!!!
I posted a list of things I needed in the classifieds and a couple of buds have dug into their stash and took care of me!!!
Here's a few things I've done and I'll post a few pics afterward. This is a long term project for me and I'm having too much fun to rush so I likely won't up date too often.
I have stripped all the paint off the grill bars, put bumpers on (this was an ordeal due to '33 bumpers having different bolt spacing than 34-36's and I had one '33 bumper, one '34 and two 35/36's. Changed wheels using a set off the '32 pickup I sold four years ago. Had to bolt a couple of things together so they didn't fall off, namely running boards. Cleaned up a few things, polished up the chrome moldings. Car came with a bunch of new parts and the P.O. even threw in a V8-60. I pulled the heads off the engine since the PO told me it was "stuck". It looked pretty good inside especially in the crankcase. I was surprised and I put a bar to the balancer and spun it right around. Looks like the starter was jammed.
I dropped the front axle enough to access the spring. I removed all the leaves except the main. It lowered the car enough to make it look good while sitting in the garage. I had thought about keeping the patina look but I can tell now that I'm not going to be able to keep my hands off the body for very long so I expect I'll be having some bare metal pics in the near future.
