I'll have some updates tomorrow, going to finish up the steering and the front end Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
No big updates but I finally got some paint on the rims. Waiting for the radiator to show up so I can get the motor mounts finished.
Kind of ironic, these 16" wheels. In my street rod days I collected dozens of these and just threw them in the scrap pile. One day, some years ago, I thought I'd take them to the swap meet in case any restorer types might be interested. Imagine my surprise when guys were digging them out of the back of my truck before I got unloaded. I soon realized I didn't quite cut the fat hog at 10 bucks each.
Wish I had kept everything that went out of style, Seems like everything comes full circle sooner or later. Doubt if I will live long enough to see my Centerlines return to style though.
Pete, This is going from the 32 coupe that nobody wanted to the one that everyone is going to want !! They don't call you Hollywood Pete for nothing !!
Haha......haven't heard that in a while Tommy. Spent some time in the shop. Got a few little "to do" items off the list. Heated and bent the steering arms down about 1/8 th inch... just enough to clear the bones from lock to lock. New tie rod and ends installed and the steering arm and drag link are ready for welding. Radiator arrived today, drilled the mounting holes and set it in place. The biggest part of the day was when club member Brandon brought this amazing custom aluminum track nose to my shop. This thing is cool and to be honest I'm considering using it on the coupe. However the time crunch for the race might prohibit using it right now because I just got a radiator to fit the 32 shell and it's a bit tall for the track nose..... but it could be made to work. I honestly don't think the car is Channelled enough to run the nose.
If you could get that radiator in there, I'd do it! And I don't think the depth of channel is an issue. Looking at the radiator support rod you've got clamped on there, you've got a good slope to the shell. What may be making you think that is your ride height. Are your front tires at the final OD you want to run? Are you thinking about a dropped axle and/or pulling leaves out back?
Current wheels and tires are not the ones I'm running. I'm getting ready to mount up the 750-16 and 600-16's
Hard to see in the pics but there's actually too much of a slope, wrong grill for this type of car. I'm going to use the track nose on another project.
Radiator arrived so I was able to make the motor mounts and align the lower hoses of the water pumps with radiator.
Picked up a firewall that had been flattened for an ohv motor, luckily the fella had the original piece that was cut out. I removed the flat piece, and before installing the ironical chunk I cut out 2-1/2"s and removed the feet. I'll blast it and finish weld it later.
Let's head for the malt shop after school and find Lindy Lou and Bobby Sue! Scrappy told me they're easy! Love the tires; once you get her ass down a bit it's gonna be PURR-FECTION! Another killer build from The Bangladesh Hot Rod Shop.
