OK, there are kustoms in the background here, but this too-tall guy got in the way. Honestly, I was thrilled to run into my favorite writer of all things kustom/hot rod .... Pat Ganahl. 01292017_0020.jpg

Odd, we shave, nose and deck our cars ... then paint the trunk emblem back on? Don't get me wrong, I still like it. 01292017_0021.jpg

A popular TV ad campaign around that time asked the question "Got Milk?" I think I'll take the Merc and a PBR 01292017_0032.jpg

Sam Barris tribute Merc. Different look than I've ever seen on a Merc. Other angles of this car are too O.T. 01292017_0048.jpg

Thanks Bill for posting all of the old Paso pics. Sad to say that I never made it to the show. Fortunately I've had a lot of friends that took pics. Its ok to live "kool" through others.

Thank you for posting the picture of my Merc and the kind words. I was excited that I had my own Mercury at the Reunion. The reason for the primer, I was rear ended going to the Starbird show and I had to replace the rear quarters. It was a long drawn out ordeal but if it hadn't happened I wouldn't have had the chance to do the Caddy rear bumper. Very happy with the change...

I dig this car. It has a menacing, sinister look. It also looks like it could go like hell.

1956 Mercury XM Turnpike Cruiser Concept

The 1956 Detroit Auto Show debuted the Mercury Turnpike Cruiser concept car, touted as “The Car of the Future” with all its bells and whistles. Many of its features never made it into actual production, but it’s really fun to see. The XM-Turnpike Cruiser toured the country in a semitrailer with big picture windows on each side. “Big M” touted it as “not merely a ‘dream’ car…a full-scale, fully operative automotive styling laboratory dedicated to pioneering, testing, and perfecting new ideas in design, new features, new safety and new power application.”
