Yeah right! The new stuff looks out of place. It'll be alot less work to make the new stuff look old than the whole test of car to look new!

I did some horse trading this w/end and I got a much needed two pot intake. So here it is dressed up w/a couple 94s and two of Jere Sheehan's old school air cleaners. Jere sold a motor to a friend and he gave the air cleaners to Mike Bowling who passed them on to me. Prized possessions! 1484523585987.jpg 1484523591643.jpg

Man you almost have a Hot Rod there, and a cool one to boot.

Scored some tires today. I still need 750-16s for the rear but these are neat. Two will go on the front of the roadster 1485399991794.jpg

With the body mostly sorted out, next up is the motor. It had a burned valve and the lifter valley is caked w/sludge. I pulled a few valves and broke guides so I stopped. 1485657506512.jpg 1485657512702.jpg as of now I am going to clean the crap out of the lifter valley and intake ports then clean the pistons and install new rings. The rest of the rotating assembly looks great so it stays. Want to get this running soon so nights and weekends will be busy

I think you're right .. I haven't tore into my motor yet. I'm sure once I do I'll enjoy every bit of it.

Took me a couple-and-a-half hours to get most of it out. Plenty of time to think about how I should have dropped it off at the machine shop.

I know that feeling. Mine was in a similar state and STILL needs more cleaning! The dollar store oven cleaner didn't really cut it for me. I'm going to use some purple degreaser on the next run through. I've still gotta get the old oil pump out and clean the bottom end too.... wanna help? ;)

  19. For cleaning the outside of old motors I have gone to the local carwash that has pressure washers. Boy, that was a mess but got the motor clean.

I was in the middle of doing that at a car wash and the attendant came out and said "What the "F" are you doing? Look at this mess!"
I told him I was washing my car "on the inside, go away".
Hot water and soap out of that little wand thingy worked pretty good!
(Since then I discovered steam cabinets. Mucho better)

A friend of a friend had a matching avocado colored electric stove and dishwasher in the garage.

Dishwasher was for parts, stove, with add-on insulation box handled the powdercoat. And the one burner that still worked boiled smaller parts in a huge pot.

After mucho hours cleaning, it looks pretty good. I need to blow it out some more and clean a bunch of parts. Check the cake-up on the cam cover. 1486852525206.jpg 1486852531957.jpg 1486852537081.jpg
