Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

In response to post 4708, the blue ’55 Chevvy belongs to Dick & Sue Freund from Fond Du Lac, WI and they have owned it for over 30 years. A couple of years ago Dick & his son, Mike, completely redid the ’55 and the resulting “Flamed” gold ’55 made the cover of Kustoms Illustrated.

 

Ed's '40. If I recall it was nailhead powered.

I was watching the '84 Leadsled Spectacular video this evening and I saw this truck was there. On the video, the truck was just yellow, no flames.
Ed was interviewed by one of Rowdie's gals, and he mentioned that the truck had a '49 Olds mill in it with three deuces and a '37 LaSalle floor shift tranny. He also said it was originally built in 1960.

No I have lost track of where it is or who owns it. Years ago, I was going to try to buy it but I was a month to late. One of my all time favorite kustoms. It would be kool if someone was driving the wheels off it...

 

I believe Tony Duran bought it from David around 2010. Do not know if he still has it...

 

I don't know who owns it now. I hadn't seen it in a while...

Thanks for the picture. Here is a scan from the feature in Street Rodder. Someone needs to talk Richard in bringing it to the Custom Car Revival. And VINO means fine wine. There`s a blue 48 Cad Convertible from Minnesota that runs that plate.

 

@stanlow69 thanks for posting the picture, I hadn't seen that article. After seeing the Merc in Wichita I fell in love with the Candy Brandy Wine color and the scallops were purrfect.

 

Looked 1000 times better before the "restyling".

 

@K13 thank you for posting the pic. I was waiting to see the roadster finished. Wow, it would be kool if a Kustom won the Roadster trophy at this years show. Hollywood Hot Rods did it again.

 

Yeah it would be cool and I would have to think it has a darn good shot at it. Some of the tech used on it doesn't fit with this board but there are some seriously cool features built into this car.

 

That one is amazing.
