I know this is an old thread but I am new here,I grew up in South East PA and currently live in Rising Sun,MD....I remember the Shake,Rattle 'n'Roll Comet owned by McCoy Lincoln Mercury welland remember seeing it at CecilCounty Drag Way in the mid '60's.
Thw last time I remeber seeing it was in the parking lot at McCoy's but I do not remeber the year....lol. I am 64 now so it was along time ago. It was painted maroon for as long as I remember and a close friend,Ken Walker did driving duties part time.
Last I saw it the engine was out of it and I remeber it sitting there for a fair amount of time but do not know whatbecame of the car.
One od the McCoy family still has a used car lot in thesame place in Rising Sun but the Lincoln/Mercury delership has been gone for years...............................
Thanks for remebering the "Good Old Days"

Does the Canary have a "Brand X" engine? Why?

Neat picture! It's not often you see a Cyclone race car, normally they are Caliente's.

No photos cause my jerk off brother threw away all of my old pictures from the 60's in the mid 70's. Haven't spoken to him since.
I ran a 65 Comet Convertible . Had a 289-271 4 speed. I ran AHRA formula stock with it. Took it to an NHRA track and had to run E/GAS. Loved the AHRA rules Had one of the interchangeable top intake manifolds . Could go from single carb to dual carbs in less than an hour.
Car ran 12's and drove it to work. . Ran a 2.80 gear during the week and a 4.71 gear on the weekend. Swapped the 8 inch for a 9 inch. Broke about ten 8 inch chunks before swapping for the 9 inch rear.

  26. Were there any sightings of Ken (mercuryjunky's) car this summer? The Brinsfield-Sox car reminded me of his.
I'll be in the Denver area in March on my way to Michigan and again in early April on my way back to Oregon

  27. I am pretty sure he will be racing in Las Vegas for the Mopars at the Strip race, it's the first race of the season for the AFX group he runs in. Have you seen his recent restoration of the Kenz and Leslie flip top comet? Outstanding! Nicest car I have ever seen! Ever! From the 2016 CHRR.
