I realize this had to be done to stop the rust that was inevitable on parts and pieces in primer only and out in the weather, btu damn, all that fine lettering Russ did has to be done again.
And with it looking so nice, how much credibility is gonna be in the name "Quick and Dirty?

  4. It'll still be quick, and dirty refers to the photo the colour came from. I don't see a problem :D

It will still be dirty in everyone's mind. Just look cooler. I'm digging it

  8. Did it fire up ok ? Sound pretty nasty? That was a still shot of a movie - at least it didn't come up as a movie for me. Looks good from here!

Fired up very easy for the first time since about 1989 lol! A few hiccups but nothing serious. Sound pretty good. It was a screen shot and not a video.

  13. Tony,

Great talking with you on Saturday- the color I was talking about was Midnight Blue Metallic- only available on the Riviera (Mom's was a '90). Haven't been able to find a color chip or code on the web, but will keep looking for you!

  14. Mac,

I'm pretty sure that color is also known as GM Dark Sapphire Blue Metalic. Unfortunately the color chips never look right on a monitor anyway, but check this...

  15. Thanks blownfuel! Of the two in the upper portion of the chart, it should be this code:

    Color code: 29/ WA-8970
    Acrylic code: 35866

My folks had a '90 Riviera with this color- beautiful color in the day- deep and dark, and looked black at night until light hit it, and then it absolutely came alive!

PS- would LOVE to see a '63-65 Riviera done in this color- would be KILLER!!!

  17. I don't know - got about 1 week to decide if its gonna be Tellitubby red purple green or blue :( or all 4. This part of it blows.

  18. I like blue but you can't shadow the letters with black

Let your painter and sign guy work it out then all you have to worry about is driving the wheels off of it.

You could always shadow with other colors. Maybe gold or yellow.

  22. Geez, you're like a girl picking out a prom dress.

Dark blue car. Antique white stripes and lettering. Dark gold pinstriping and drop shadows.

    Done.

    Git on it.

I thought the car's name was "Quick" and the driver's was "Dirty". So the name should stay. :D

Damn! I'm gone for a day and a half for a cataract surgery and recovery to where I can get back online and everybody and their brother is in here telling Tony what color to paint HIS car and the lettering! WTF???
I'll say this once, I don't care if Tony paints the car titty pink with purple lettering and lime green highlights, or any other color he wants, as it's his car.
I'll continue to say "yeah Tony is the owner, builder, and driver, and a friend of mine, and a fellow member of the best damn car club in the area.

  28. Cuz HE can't make up HIS mind so the rest of us are sitting on the couch drinking beer and watching football while he tries on one dress after another. The blue one with the white stripes looks lovely dear, can we go eat dinner now?
