This truck really tripped my trigger. I had never seen anything like it. And never saw it again. 55-57 Chevy with rear of a late 50's Imperial? Also appear to be sectioned, looking at how short the hood height is. If I remember, rear plate said "BONDO" Front plate a "FUNDAMENTALS" plaque? The dual flames using dark and gray primer reminded me of the Levi's Coca Cola DeniMachine Van that Hot Rod Magazine gave away in the 70's 01162017_0026.jpg

One of Bob Johnson's Mercs from Council Bluffs IA. I always got to see this car in local ISCA shows. Wonderful scalloped deep brandywine paint. Named "Sweeter than Wine" His "So Fine" 50 Merc on the front of a 1983 Custom Rodder really turned me into a Merc man. There is a white canopy or something behind the car. The top is not bulged like that, just a bad angle of photography. 01162017_0028.jpg

If I remember, the plate said "NO LEAD" On a black car, I'm guessing that means, look at my awesome metal skills. 01162017_0035.jpg

Another Merc from that "Classic's" show in Onawa. A nice start of a kustom, but seems pretty tall. Could use lowering, and some stainless trim ..... and a chop, of course. 01162017_0039.jpg

  16. This truck really was cool. I watch a lot of video and look through tons of magazines, and the '84 Leadsled Spectacular video is the only place I had ever seen it until @54delray's picture here tonight.
It did have a Fundamentals plaque on it, and the "BONDO" plates were from Kansas. E

Here is another pic of the truck. I had a pic of the front, but my finger got in the way. I also had one of the rear showing the BONDO Scan0096.jpg plate, but must of missed placed it. The pic`s were taken at the host hotel.

Bill, here`s the pic of the Pepper Shaker. One from Des Moines and the other from Michigan. And I believe this is the blue Buick you wanted to see. It was taken in Springfield KKOA show. Scan0094.jpg Scan0093.jpg Scan0095.jpg

All you have to do is ask. It was owned by Don Curtain from Pennselvania. He shows up in Indy with 3 of his cars. His boy told me the car is in a guys personnel collection and never gets it out. It is still unchanged. The pic was taken in Des Moines that year. Touch Of Class might be the name of the car. Scan0090.jpg

The late Dave Barnes. He had just purchased the car from Minnisotan Phil Van Tassel. Showed the car a lot until it burned up in a garage fire. The carcus floated around for awhile. Then went to Missouri or Kansas. It was made into a convertible, (sort of, The top was badly warped from the fire) Scan0089.jpg Scan0088.jpg and with a continental kit and a flame job. He then had a chopped 66 Riv with suicide doors and then a 59 Pontiac that was usually in Salina until his passing a couple or three years ago. Aso a pic of a local car, 51 black Merc convertible in the back ground. It was sold off to California a few years later. I believe this pic is from that show as well. The Merc in the Onawa show was also a local car. It wasn`t lowered much because of his steep driveway. He traded it off at Duffy`s Classic Cars in Cedar Rapids Iowa for a 66 Olds Convertible. Now Bill knows why I wanted that Desoto grille I bought from him a few years ago.

  23. Couple more of the white 54. These were taken at the Olean, NY car show in the early 80's.
