I have read this thread since you started the project.
Your workmanship and determination are incredible!
But with that being said, it's your sense of humor which has made this thread and your project so much fun to read about!
You have learned to do so much with so little, for so long, I now believe you are capable of doing almost anything with nothing!

Before you run it, take the rockercover off and check that the oil spray bar that goes to the cam is not blocked,

Well, impossible to start the engine on the floor (I did not even try!)...because the dizzy is electronic....I'm an idiot....I forgot to retrieve the module, and of course, the donor car is now destroy.......
I received a new one this morning.

 

Don't forget that my Frégate is in 6V........Brain storming of the day : find parts in 12V and temporary wiring......engine start test for tomorrow......

 

Well, at least you should be able to rule out a bad module if it won't start!

 

So Its time to find a cheap used mechanical distributor on the web.
And a second 6v to make 12v start and keep rest 6v.

Thanks, it's really the first start, with some air tube not really well closed, old sparks, not enough gasoline....but I agree, it's not bad for a test, I'm happy, this engine appears to be a good one....

I have prepare the space.....hum, not really good condition to remove and swap an engine, but that is my reality, I hope that I'm not damage the paint, It's little space to put the engine on the floor.....



And when I done this, I thinking that it's time to continue the story, build a real Leadsled.
I'm gonna rebuild the car with a better looking.....made something more cool, more clean, and.......news soon.....the new version of Lowrange. In the street of course.
For this week, I'm gonna remove the original engine.......

 

If lowrange isn't a real lead sled now, I don't know what one is. you took an ugly 4 door, made it a sexy 2 door and got the girl!!!
All the time I think I don't have enough room, or big enough shop space, and you built this car in a street. SO IMPRESSIVE!

I just bought one of these... I will be leaving the body as it is though and any mods will be carried out underneath...

 

Make it a 2door, and to top rat' make it a hardtop

 

Well, go back to reality, before "doing the work", it's a long brain storming to realise what I want to do in this condition. I must try to do things safely and seriously....but how in this bad place?....well......

I'm alone and the first problem is "how to remove the hood alone?".........the answer is "don't remove it!"

I have made 2 pieces of wood to open the hood vertically....smart isn't it?



This is the first step, I must project my realise, this is my way of proceeding, prepare, reflect, and after do the best thing I can...

 

The second problem is that the car is on a bad floor, and very sloping.....I need to use wood board, but only one side..

 

Do you have a space where you could hook the car or the lift to your panel truck? Then you could use the truck to move either one and not worry about being man power to do the moving? I feel for you moving that lift on such a rough surface and incline!

 

The other problem is the space Gearhead Graphics, this is the maximum that I can have....one side a wall, and other side the road.....

The rear is a little on the road.....but it will be ok for 15 minutes......I can push alone the car to have the precious inch to remove the engine.....

 

And the real big problem is WINTER.....it's very cold outside......but it's better now


And of course, rain is expected for a week....

A day to remove all accessories, but no success for today, the engine is stuck to the gearbox. I want take out the engine first only, for less weight and lake of space, but I think I'm not in the good axis (with my sloping floor), and with the night coming, everything is tidy, tomorrow is another day......

 

On those cars ain't you supposed to drop the trans crossmember then pull the engine and trans as a unit?

We need to come up with an award for Perseverance Against All Obstacles or something. I whine about not having enough room in my two car garage and Rat has built this totally awesome custom on a sloped parking stall, half in the street in the rain and sweltering heat. Here's to you, Rat

Thanks guys for your comments, of course I'm ache all over, about 2 days I have try to move this engine for fews inches, and be sure that you give me some energy too to continue my car. This forum and members are so cool here, that I only want to share my story on the Hamb.
