Yeah, but shipping is cost prohibitive.

For pete's sake, keep the Y block, as God intended. Run straight duals, maybe Porters or Walkers. Thank me later.

I think I've settled on finding a 292 locally, my only problem is I have a budget and a timeline to stick too Thanks for everyone's input, time to find an engine!

  11. I saw a '58 Ranchero years back. It was clipped with a '74ish Torino front stub that had a 460 in it. It looked like it was a factory issue, but a lot of work to do a clip job. I would consider a 351C myself, they fit nicely, not too big or too small, just right.

  13. No way you are getting two fat chicks and the driver into a '58 Ranchero.
What you need is two hot chicks and one fat chick to push when the damn thing breaks down!

Lincoln Y block 317,341, or 368, doesn't matter, they're all good to go. And if an automatic is needed, just hook a hydro out of a 52-54 Lincoln to the engine.

Y-Block would be most easy/simple. An FE fits great too. I would do which every you can find that is most affordable. When I put my '59 together about 10 years ago, I bumped into a guy moving out of the country needing to liquidate his stuff and he sold me a 390 for $25 on an engine stand! Still running that $25 FE 10 years later.

Drop in a FE, as stated above. You won't regret it. 332, 352, hipo 352, 390, hipo 390, 406, 427 and 428. Of course they also made FEs for trucks, Mercs and Edsels (differect cu in displacements).

Externally, they all look alike. '57-'59 Fords were built for that engine swap. Very common swsp.

Two fat chicks was my immediate reaction

  22. FE find any FE equipped vehicle with a automatic and get the whole package, Even a 360 out of a truck with a C6 auto would work great.
