I have never done a build thread before. The progress on this one will be slow, I'm sure. I never thought I would be able to get an early Ford, but it happened. I picked up this decent 39 deluxe for a good deal. Just got it home a few weeks ago. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wow, that '39 looks like a really nice car. '39 Tudor Deluxe is one of the cars I would like to build someday. What are your plans for it?
It has no drive train, but came with a drop axle in it. Some new parts (lenses etc.) and a Bronco nine inch. I'm planning a TCI parallel leaf kit for the nine. I have the running smallblock from my 57 that I'll put in. Seat are roached, so I took the opportunity to paint the floor. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Got some work done with the pressure washer. Slow, but its progress. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
My Avatar is a '40 Std Tudor my Dad bought in early '65 and will pass on to one of my kids. Very similar to yours. I had a '39 DeLuxe Coupe in High School. I always loved the banjo steering wheel and the crank out windshield. Got a stroker flatty in mine tho. Also have had two '40 Ford pickups over the years. '39-'40 cars and '40-'41 pickups hold a special place in my heart! Have always had one around me since I was 10 years old. Crap! That's 52 years now! Dave
I do like it. I'm toying with waxing it, but we'll see. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
On further inspection of the maroon, I think I need to just paint everything black. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Has anyone ever tried mounting a th350 without splitting the bones? It looks like the split is going to have to happen. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Very cool car. My very first car was a 39 DeLuxe tudor, bone stock. What is that y shaped gizmo with can on the upper part of the firewall? Don't remember that on my 39....
I would be interested in the heater and that ducting if you decide not to run it. Let me know. Thanks, Dave
Will do. I'm about 98% sure I'm not going to run it. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Leave it as is, looks perfect. Slam it, this a 286 stroker flattie with t5 in it and your g2g. Sent from my XT1585 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I thought it was grey until I buffed a bit of it. It's actually green. No plans to repaint. Just a buff and wax. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It's funny. I love seeing flatheads in other people's cars, but they just don't do it for me like an ohv. Time will tell. Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'm doing some more cleaning and crud removal. Its warm enough out here to paint the firewall and inner fenders now. But then I found this where the firewall meets the toekick area. Its on driver and passenger sides. I guess I'll just braze it up, but is this common? Sent from my LGLS990 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It is not uncommon to find cracks in old cars. The body mounts get old and the roads they traveled weren't the best and the frames had some designed flex in them.
I would drill the end of the crack so the crack can't go any further, wire wheel it so it's clean bare metal and weld it up.
