Looking good! - I am still struggling to get my deck lid interior from Steves to fit my body. I am going to do a 16 gauge aluminum skin with a bunch of louvers.
Thank You Dodored, Keep going as your coupe is coming together nicely. I was very lucky to find the original '34 deck lid pictured below on the H.A.M.B. that was in nice condition for an original deck lid as reproduction pieces can be often difficult to work with most of the time.

You are right! The SAR deck lid interior requires a LOT of modification to make it work - Especially when you put it on an old twisted body. I was going to buy the skin from Steves but after cutting and sectioning three different ways it was easier to just start fresh with an aluminum skin that fits what I made. Lots of hours though.....
I bought the assembled floor from Howells in Texas ($2300). There was a lot of drama, as the sent the order incomplete, he charged my card for all the parts, packaged it so it was folded in half when I got it, and then refused to take my calls. We fixed all that with an attitude adjustment from the credit card company in the form of a charge dispute. He quickly called me and was very cooperative, as he only had 3 days to make amends with me. I told him that I was not interested in stealing his parts from him - only paying him for what he sent me in the form of a mailed cashier's check. We did that and now we are good. My advice - proceed with caution, and don't wait too long to dispute if something doesn't go like it should.
Very interesting. I have heard of other issues with Howell's since it's changed hands. Seems like A LOT of the model 40 sheet metal parts suppliers a snakes...
Don't get me wrong - The parts were put together well, and in the end it will make for a solid Model 40. You just need the patience to deal with the cast of characters that we call our suppliers. Keep your eyes on their hands so you don't end up sucker punched.
Installed original passenger side door latch found on the H.A.M.B. Need another original small lock lever located at bottom front of latch for original driver side door latch. Please message me if you have one for sale.
How is progress going? I have stalled a little on mine, and got distracted working on the chassis for the '55 gasser I have.
Dodored, Currently working on the filling holes on the cowl as pictured below which is a very slow process. Sounds like working on the chassis on your '55 gasser is a good distraction to me!!!
I hear you. The 55 will be a terror for sure. I need a set of garnish moldings if you come across some. I was even considering going glass as the steel one are so high $$$ Here are the recent photos from the 1934.

Finished reconditioning the Passenger Side door hinge and latch pillars. Test fitted stainless steel door striker plate, male, and female dovetails purchased from Heinzman Streetrods 402-886-2275 in Phillips, NE. Installed passenger side door handle found on the H.A.M.B. Will start reconditioning work on Drivers Side door hinge and latch pillars. Please view detailed pictures of work below.

While you are doing your latches, definitely incorporate some sort of safety latch at the front. I had less than 100 miles on mine and WHOOM!! passenger door flew open on the interstate. All my latches/dovetails were nice and tight, I just didn't get the fucker shut all the way. Like Forrest Gump said, it happens.... Very nice work, by the way. -Abone.
