Goodbye spring towers, hello beam axle!!

  11. As cool as straight axles are, I'm sticking with a shock tower trim to try and fit everything!

Is there a way to get an FE in there and still keep the stock front suspension?

Shock tower trimming would help but I still don't see getting around the upper control arms and frame/ motor mounts.

Late small body Falcons some where around 68/69 they had the same engine bay as a Fairlane so FE in Fairlane FE in Falcon..Couple around here, lots of people don't notice..Headers would be a stock [hooker etc for F'lane] item but a bitch to install and change spark plugs..

  19. There could be worse things than having to changing spark plugs on a high-riser falcon! Lol

A friend of mine had a 68 Shelby mustang with a 428 in it. He pulled the engine and re-did it and I like an idiot said I would help him put it back in. I remember the header tubes just shot straight down where they exited the flanges. Had the shortest header bolts we could find and still had to grind off some threads to get them started. THEN you had to wrench them in a sixteenth of a turn at a time!! IF you could get the wrench on AFTER you ground the head of the wrench down. ALL DAY to put the headers on and they were two piece. Every time I see a mustang with an FE and headers I cringe. :D Lippy

Yep..Bet you made up a few new words! Maybe a 351w/427 stroker ?

  23. What I meant is I would rather have a real 427 in my falcon and fight the headers and spark plugs , that not have it at all. I am really lucky I was able to find this one at a price I could afford. Plus how often do you take the headers off and change spark plugs anyway??

I think what ever it takes to pull it off will worth it when you hit the load pedal.

  26. LOLOL... I had a stroker 427 in a '67 Cougar, and I remember those headers very well. First install (by myself) was 8 hours per side. I eventually got it down to 8 hours for both sides.... Definitely an exercise in patience....

You'll pretty much need to totally remove the shock towers for the FE. Compared to a '67 Mustang, the Falcon engine tub is 3+" narrower. Ford used custom-fabricated short upper control arms and moved the springs outboard about 5" to get the FE in. Here's a pic of Dyno Don's Comet.... https://blog.hemmings.com/index.php...omet-cyclone-to-cross-the-block/#&gid=1&pid=5
