Wow, loving all this Flake/Candy inspiration, from everyone here especially elspock84's work. a newbie here, I have went thru all these inspiration pages a couple times already with my jaw dropping at all the great eyecandy. I grew up in the 70's and 80's with all the old school flake paintjobs, now I have got myself an old 1974 Harley Ironhead that has been customize with Fatbob tanks and the " all the way to the ground" street sweeper fender, that is just begging for a flake/candy paintjob, I have been practicing airbrushing about 6 months now and have painted a few autos thru my times but no "flake jobs" of yet. I was wondering if elspock84 had any videos of his process of how adn what type size flakes and guns he uses, and just a process from start to finish to see how he does it to make it look so dang awesome...

    Hello,

Back when I was shooting photos for the car mags, I also shot choppers. But, it was the intricate painting that went along with the vehicle that drew me to selecting which car or bike I would shoot. If I did not like the paint job, I would not shoot the car or bike for a mag story. The paint job was always on the forefront in my selections. The story for this three wheeler was backwards. The owner knew me from another friends car shoot. He wanted me to document the build from the ground up.

I had no idea what color or design he was going to use, but I signed on to shoot from the beginning to the end. I was hoping the paint would be as nice as the build was in the early stages. The final paint came out with this beautiful pattern with fades, shadows, and color combo. Light purple on dark purple with the body in bright orange. The purple/orange was my favorite combo, but was never used on cars or bikes for that matter. This was a first. The photo story was a success and the photos were accepted with open arms at the magazine. (The color was actually much brighter orange and brighter purple. The photos were taken on a sunny, but hazy day making the colors more muted, plus, the photos are old)

KUSTOM: The roof on that car is Bitchin!, but I'm pretty sure none of the angles in those pics do it justice, any chance you have some more shots?
An overhead one of the roof would be outstanding!!
    Cheers!
