Seems the Hairy Canary Comet was later restored to original livery including the 427 it was meant to have.

I only got to make 3 passes this year. Best was a 12.52@111mph. I have 7in. wide hurst slicks on the back. They are hard and have no grip. My goal next year is 11.99 or better with those tires.

I have the same tires and found it impossible to get any traction anywhere on the track with my small block. Put some real slicks on it!

This car is selling at Mecum Kissimmee in January and after reading the bio they keep getting Al Heinkle's name wrong. I'm going to reach out to the seller to let them know and also offer some of the pictures I have. I have a user album on the H.A.M.B. that anyone can check out with original pictures of me with the Canary. Let me know if you can't view the album and I'll try to attached some pictures here. I also think I might be able to get in touch with Jack Geist who is the son of the original mechanic on the Canary.

 

Viewed it fine. Great photos. I have seen the Canary here on the HAMB and heard it was SBC powered can you let us know what the powerplant was?

 

I'm not sure exactly but I vaguely remember 327ci. The pictures in my album show the cross ram but here's another that shows injectors. Don't know which came first but I would assume the cross ram because the photo's I have show the car before final paint with it. That's my uncle Mike behind the wheel.

 

Seeing "Chevy Powered" on the fender physically hurts me! Lol cool picture though, never seen that one. Thanks for posting
