Kool taillight treatment . 58 Pontiac taillights mounted upside down. Very kool!

  8. ^ Wonder why they didn't switch right to left as well?
Then the peaked sides would still mate up with the body line.

@Peanut 1959 I will send the pictures via Personal message. It has big wheels on it so its not HAMB friendly. Be kool to see it in smoothies, spiders and white walls..

Had a blast yesterday watching legendary kustom builders (Frank Palmer & Jeff Myers) chop a Stude. Never been a fan of it in stock form but they sure make kool kustoms.

Looking through Riksters web site, I found this Valley Kustom. I sure like the grill treatment.

  17. Here's an earlier picture of that sedan Straykatkustoms (owned by Ralph Weflan). I think there was a matching BSA to the version you showed and heard the car was later sectioned..: ReginaCarShow_RalphWefflan_HAMB.jpg

I normally don't like those hoods/grille's, but that chop just might make the front look right!

  20. FUNNY! I said the same thing that night. It really does change the proportions of the whole car.

Actually, the pic you posted appears possibly to be the sectioned version?
(Check the proportions on the trim-to-rear quarter line and door bottom, as well as size of the grille opening and front wheel well.)

Looking at it closer, you're right Mo. Thanks...... I thought the grill opening looked that way because of the canted headlights. Looking at the rear quarters it looks sectioned. Loved to see a pic with the hood and doors shut.

    Me too, 'kat'.
I find it hard to understand how such an outstanding custom (chrome, upholstery, paint, bodywork and design) could just fall between the cracks.
rodncustomdreams, can you further help connect the dots? (Info sources?)

  24. Wow, good eye 'Mo! I hadn't looked very closely at the pic StrayKat posted. I thought it was this image (shown here in a club display):
Draggins Car Show Apr 1998 02.jpg

It's tough to say, but I think it may be sectioned in this pic with the single headlamps too.. I wish I knew how much it had been sectioned - 2in. maybe? While looking for the above image I came across another of Jim Appleby's pics of Ralph's car in transition (sectioned here? Looks like it to me.):

I know Ralph did his own body and paint work (his cousin told me it had many, many paint jobs), and since family members were upholsterers this one was an "in house" custom in the true sense.

    You fellas are sharp!

  25. Another of Mr. Appleby's pics. I believe this is Garry Porter with his Vicky. Garry lived across the street from me at the time.

For custom history buffs, the "Mountain Pearl" has the distinction of being HRM's very first color-insert feature car (7/1962).

It's still around (minus the chromed-up six-carbed Olds motor)!
