Completely frustrated and ready to screaming from the shop. Yep you are right on schedule. Just remember if it was easy you would probably just make it harder!

Hoping to get it timed and started tomorrow, so I can take it to the muffler shop on Friday.

It was the 36 oz that looks like waxed leather......the name is The Symphony Collection, "Old Bronze", by Nassimi. I like the way it turned out. I hope it wears as well as I expect it to. I think you may have even been the one that suggested it. It's been a few moons......

I have bought the materials to build the test stand, but I have been buried lately. Hoping after the holidays to get back on it.

Missed all the fun you had. I have the same amount of room under the dash of my 59 Apache after the A/C install as you do. Lines weren't quite so bad, but talk about 10 pounds of A/C in a 5 pound sack! Interior looks great. Have you started on the gonna be chopped truck, or finish this one first?

I do. I will give you the cliff notes version. After fighting with the 327, straight from the bowels of hell, I gave up. Actually, it's like that line from The outlaw Josey Wales.... I didn't surrender, they took my horse and made him surrender.

My wife made me surrender, so I bought a crate motor. I knuckled under and bought a 255 hp roller motor, 1996-2000 version. I wanted the roller to avoid the whole zinc required for cam break in etc. and it should be more reliable I hope.

This will be towing the Avalair travel and the Fly eventually. I drove it around the block, but I need some adjustment to the TV cable.

I'll post some updated pics, but I think the Nigerians have control of my laptop. Gonna hafta do some virus roundup.

I shopped around and Jegs had the best price, no core charge, free freight. It was right at 2 grand. I had to buy a dipstick and tube, the oil filter adapter and a new style externally balanced flex plate and the obvious stuff, like intake, carb, exhaust manifolds. It has the good Vortec heads, but ugly center bolt valve covers. I don't really care, so I just spray bombed the whole motor. I like the idea of having an easy oil filler cap, so I kept them.

Oh, one important thing. The timing cover is one of those new fangled plastic, one use covers. It has a 3/4" hole in it for a crank position sensor. I went to the local LQK salvage and pulled one for $5. You don't need it, except to fill the hole.

cool project, love the familia image with Grampa in it. Nothing like a project with the whole crew working towards a finish product. Love where it is headed. best wishes

[IMG] I took it to the muffler shop Thursday. These guys always start out shaking their head, saying " Man I dunno, there's not much space up there. They always end up making it look like it was factory. I love hiring guys that appreciate doing things right.

Chris, huw much space between the tailpipes and gas tank. Is it just the angle that makes them look close?
