Been on the Modified Production thread enjoying Charlie Kostic reminiscing about his 58 Vette and Willy B asked about frame spacers to achieve an up stance with the stock front crossmember and told him I would load a picture or two here on how I did it.

Willy here are a few pictures on my latest project which will have a bit of an upstance although not the height that some desire with the 4" spacers. This is a 2" spacer I fabricated and then you can see the three 2* stock shims to achieve decent caster (about 5 * or so-I hope). The newer stock shims I do not believe are as good as the older stock shims as they seem to be fatter at the leading edge (maybe 1/8" instead of closer to 1/16"). The thinner they are at the leading edge the more caster with the least amount of shims. You can see at the backside of the crossmember with the three shims it raises the car about 2 1/2" over stock (as stock uses one 2* shim and caster is maybe around 1/2*-not quite enough of course if you want to go fast with an upstance for sure). Hope this helps. Jim 3-9-15 002.jpg 023.jpg 024.jpg

Nice Jim, But we went to the 4" spacers back in the mid 60s and have never looked back then and now on any new builds.

Jim of course it is hard to argue with your success but sometimes some of us are hard headed. In my black car I had these very 2" blocks and then I did not like them as well as I thought so I made 3" blocks. I made 2" blocks for my avatar car since I had really stiff coil springs and figured I already had some height. I had these blocks sitting on a shelf with my latest project and thought I would try a different height- down a bit I guess. Who knows what I will do when I am finished with the car-I have been known to change on a moments notice . You are right 4" was the standard and I remember adding 4" back in the 60s. Hope all is going well with you.

I remember seeing this Corvette at NE Dragway on a regular basis. Always ran strong and always looked great.
(just noticed this is my 3000 post...nice to be on this thread!)

Found a BUNCH hidden away in a AWB site. Some may be AWB but a lot don't look it to me. Some probably are gassers but hard to tell classes.

Just to get started a few I had been saving.

Jason and Loudbang good stuff. A couple of fuelies that have been desecrated for the sake of drag racing. Oh the horror of it all. How could you not really like this stuff? The #80 car with a 265 makes me scratch my head a little bit though.

I realize that Loudbang but since they never came with a 265 in that body style, stock classes seem strange and modified also seems strange to me. The 265 was OK in lower classes of stock (if that was the plan) but I would have thought the 283 would have been a better candidate for modifications in modified (and stock as well).
