Great news, glad to see they are working. Was your fuel pressure too high??

Any pictures with the Winfield carbs installed??

No pix yet fuel pressure was high main problem was a damaged gasket

  12. Russ Tee, I think you will find the Winfields more responsive after the manifold balance tube is warm or hot to the touch. My experience is they tend to stumble when the engine is not up to operating temp. We run it until the fan turns on then we tune or make any adjustments. It is a very pleasing sound when you bring them into balance. I use the idle speed screw on just one and balance the other to that one.

Yes Bill I am noticing that thanks again it is a great feeling getting something you know nothing about to work and learn as you go my whole motor has been a learning experience many have told me things cant be done but I feel you should turn that around study what you are doing and find reasons for why it can be done understand why then stick to your guns and do it in a methodical way and dont give up these are simple engines great to learn on and not bellybutton motors probably why we build them rather than buy a done small block that probably goes better but is only a case of spending your money and thats done no understanding and can you even fix it when something goes wrong. thanks again.

  17. If I am running a B motor with a Winfield or Simmons head, does it mater if the Water pump is a 29-29 or a 30-31? Not sure what the difference is.

You can get an adapter to use a B pump on an A head

  22. Thanks, I was just curious why they designate the two different A pumps if there isn't really a difference.

I stand corrected, the adapters are for 32-37 V8 water pumps.

The pumps are physically the same except for the packing nut. Brass was used for the packing nut in 1928-29 and zinc was used for 1930 and 1931. Probably only important to the restorer looking for authenticity.
