St. Johns Bridge construction, c. 1930: Portland, Ore.....my grandfather hauled dirt and sludge from under the bridge with his old Ford truck, during it's construction on weekends, to use as 'fill in' on peoples yard erosion.....he had a small hardware store during the rest of the week, in this photo, just behind the cameraman's position on Burlington St.....he used to point when driving over the bridge and say ''I built that'' with a wink....us kids got a kick out of it a2009-009-863-st-johns-bridge-construction-south-from-n-burlington-c1930.jpg

The building on the left was originally the St. Johns city hall in the early part of the century, when St. Johns was annexed by the city of Portland, it became North Precinct for the Portland police department. My older brother worked out of this building for many years as a sergeant. He took me there with him a few times in the late 60's.

That's very cool....I spent a lot of my childhood in that part of St. Johns....that area is a special place to me....I can't believe how much it's changed....but, the memories are still fresh in my mind....My mother used to eat lunch on the small fence surrounding St. Johns old city hall building in the late 40's...the bridge was a big deal....I remember my grandfather always talking about it's construction, but he was always in trouble with the police in St. Johns due to taxes and fishing rights along the river because of it....and who knows what else;)...I think he knew the city hall VERY WELL and those who worked there:D

Aalbu Brothers in Everett WA. Fab shop that does truck stuff. Still in business, since 1906! Also one of the few spring shops still around. I'm in there every once in awhile to have U-bolts made and buy spring bushings. A neat place to visit. Housed in a cool old brick building.

I don't know... Lose the grill shroud and gain a couple pounds of unwanted weight. Oh yeah, what grill shroud?
