    Pete---

I saw that body when my pal blind owl owned it .... lots of folks were scared to indulge on the project, I'm stoked that it finally fell into the right hands.

    4" chop

Personally I like the 5" chop best.

Looking good. I have a Kilborn 5W that I put an opening windshield frame, original cowl vent,40 Ford dash and a set of UPAC gutters. I had a stock firewall for it, but stole it for the Brookville Rdstr that I am doing now. Enjoy your build and keep having fun. 2016-09-18 14.32.30.jpg 40 dash in Deuce 10 17 09.JPG

It's not too late. Alex Finigan had his re-chopped because he liked the look of the 5 inch better. photo 5 (2).jpg !cid_image004_jpg@01D110DA.jpg photo 4 (2).jpg

When I chopped my second 5W (5 inch chop), the only repro windshield I could find was aluminum. Later I found a stock original so this one has been sitting on a shelf in my garage for the last 30+ years. Maybe time to bring it to the shop and hang it on a wall there. :)

Yes. I bought the body out of Walpole for $1000.00 back in 1985. I chopped it, put it on a set of original rails ( I bought from Chick Brignolo) ,put a Nailhead Buick in it with a 39 tranny, but was not happy with having to move the radiator forward, so I put a flathead in it. Sold it to John Lyon, who put the red oxide primer on it, bought it back, changed a few things and painted it the baby blue primer. The end of the season ( 1986) Bryan Winter wound up with the body ( I traded it for his Wescott Rdstr body) and he kept it a while and sold it to Steve. Later , Bryan bought it back and as he told me last night, "it's not going anywhere". Steve\'s blown 32 Coupe.jpg Steves coupe vs Barons coupe.jpg

Now here are some pictures that I have saved over the years that are chopped 5 inches or more.

Cool......this would do it for me. That ZL1 must be a terror in that coupe.

Hi Baron, I'm familiar with your sixth photo of the bare metal coupe. Rex Rogers (Loving, Co.)chopped it last year. I saw the write up on it as "Hard Chopped Coupe" Don't remember how much it was chopped, too much for me. How much was the first Black Coupe chopped in your group of coupes? That one looks good.

Rex: Thanks for running the pictures of FF 5 windows. I've been agonizing over how my 5 window sits in front but it's very close to the ones in your pictures.

Here's mine, cut 3 1/2" in the front as far as I can figure, a tad less in the rear. Done late 70's so I was told. I'm short and I'm glad it wasn't more 'cause it was channeled about the same amount. 20160521_141518.jpg

One more thing to consider is weather to lean the windshield back a tad or stretch the roof. Depending on the chop, it could be anywhere between 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. The picture of the green one looks like they stretched the roof. The black one has the windshield leaned back. I prefer the leaned back look, but it is all personal preference. 3 inch chopped 5w.jpg $(KGrHqUOKjME5,!wRCd1BOc(w0UNg!~~60_3.jpg

Rex, thanks for all the photos. You are the chop king. I read all of your trend on "Hard chop", was that coupe owned by your friend Mike Orback?Again thanks. m.ralph

The neat thing about the '32 ford, particularly the 5 window, is that any amount of chop or even no chop at all, - it always looks good !

The hard chop car does belong to Mike Orback and Outlaw Speedshop here in town.

Personally i'm not a fan of leaning the windshield back on five windows, the rest of the lines on the car are pretty vertical. the wedge chop is still my favorite it helps even out the door top with the rest of the car.
The one Upac body we chopped a straight 3" cut the roof came down without having to stretch it, since the roof wasn't welded on yet the 3/8" difference was made up in the rear of the car. When it was all done there was a slight change in the rear roof line but it was hard to spot.

Sorry. I mistakenly took it as Afins car. But it looks a very similar chop, ( and another real nice 5W).

  27. That's my coupe. Google "Chemical City Coupe" or click on the link in my signature for the build thread. Lots of pics of the chop in the thread.
