Found these kool pics from Kustomrama web site....... Thanks to Johnnie Overbay, owner of Reno Rod and Custom, some never before published photos of the Krimson Kart has surfaced. These photos were taken in the mid 1960s, just before Emory Ashpaugh sold it. When the photos were taken, the rear wheel openings had just been opened up, and the side spears had been shaved. Current owner Cody Burghdorf is currently restoring the old Oklahoma City custom back to how it once appeared

  5. Thought it would be fitting to show these in progress shots, also from Kustomrama:

Here is what it looked like when Cody got it:

I might be out of line, not knowing the history of this car, but find it odd, that the pictures from the mid 1960's, show the rear wheelwells opened up, and the later (I assume) field car show a stock rear opening. So when did that happen? And I wonder why? In any case, cool to see an old kustom in the hands of someone who cares.

  8. Hepcat,

Tasteful shoebox! I really like the grill, are they pieces from a 52 mercury?

The car passed through a few hands after it was sold in the 60's , one of the past owners put on stock lower quarters and returned the wheel wells to stock, they brazed them on and sunk the quarters in about a inch. The car now has new quarters and I'm trying to convince Cody to open the wheel wells back up.

  12. Thanks! It is as Sancho said, pieces of a 52 Ford grille welded together. All the other mods on the car is FoMoCo only. Kind of a factory custom project you could say.

The shoebox is sweet! Enough changes to show the TLC but pretty conservative. Nicely done.

Hi everyone. Hopefully it is ok to post something like this here. I have done a couple calendars for 2017 one of which features customs. Colorful Customs 2017 is now available. The price each is $25 + $7.95 for 2 day shipping. There are volume discounts for multiples and the freight stays the same for multiple calendars. The printing on these is totally first class on heavy pearl paper 12 x18 inches spiral bound at the top. If you are interested PM me. If you would like to see which month each car appears in or would like to see these images larger - go to http://www.pbase.com/dlgphoto/colorful_customs_2017
