Was just checking if anyone thought of putting a sway bar on rear of model a. I'm running coil over shocks and seem it needs a little stabilizing .Can you really tell the difference after installing one ?Any in put on this subject would be grateful.
If you run the shocks at a slight angle where they are closer at top than bottom you'll gain stability, that might be all you need.
Think he's talking about 'Anti-Roll' bar. (frame-mounted transverse bar attached to arms that are linked to axle housing) Bar's resistance to twist in turns keeps car level.
I'm thinking your concern is excessive body roll when turning? I have seen new ones advertised for sale for hot rods but would not know what kind of vehicle to look for in a wrecking yard that would work properly. I understand the bar used can have too much resistance and cause other handling problems. Great question.
I'm assuming that you are running ladder bars, or similar and a panhard bar, pic is not really clear. Have you driven it? The reason I'm asking is based on the pic it looks like it still under construction. I have the same setup in the back of my car, no anti-roll bar, handles just fine, granted mine is very low. If you still feel you need an anti-roll bar, there are kits available from the circle track suppliers that would work well, some are even adjustable.
You need a panhard rod to locate the rear end from side to side. Panhard rods are some times called sway bars which is also the misnomer for an anti roll bar. Rex
Your coilovers are mounted too close together. They will be more stable the farther out you can move them without interfering with the wheel tire combo.
After Ryan's post on watermarks and me posting street roddy stuff, I can only beg for forgiveness. I will have an extra scotch after work to sooth my conscience.
Your shocks at the top look to be to close , but it might be the angle of the photo , Your coil over's look beefy , are they the wright sping rate , I run a triangle four bar with Q A1's with no problems
I have not put her on the road yet ,its still under construction . I'm just getting some input ,this is my first model a build . Want to thank all the input
